Swim
Comments: Lack of training was the only factor here. I think I swam 3 or 4 times total since July and maybe a few times more than that since April. Transition 1
Comments: Long run to T1 so I went easy. I've learned that letting my heart rate come down a bit before jumping on the bike makes me quite a bit faster. I'll sacrifice the 20 seconds in T1 for a bike split that's a couple of minutes faster. Bike
Comments: Good bike ride, despite the lack of training here as well. I took it pretty easy, actually. My heart rate was up, but I don't think it was much of 170, if it all. That's quite a bit below the 175-180 it would have been if I hadn't been holding back for the half the next day. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Slow run for several reasons: - I haven't done any speed work and not a whole lot of running. - I was taking it as easy as I could to save for the 1/2. - I was in the lead of my co-workers and was going easy in case one of them caught me. If they had, I would have been ego-bound to go with them and beat them out at the line. I'm the veteran triathlete at this company. I couldn't let some newbie finish ahead of me! ;) Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: The fact that I was relying on my base from IMAZ in April to get me through the week-end! Event comments: Everybody who did this race raved about it, including me. Keith and Claire do a fantastic job of putting on races. I'll be doing both the sprint and 1/2 at Lonestar in March as well as doing both of these next year. We had a great time as a company as well. All 28 people that signed up and started also finished. It was awesome. Last updated: 2006-12-02 12:00 AM

This was an awesome race. I work for a company with about 120 employees and we (I will take credit it starting and leading this effort) managed to get 28 people and 3 spouses to do this race. The company picked up the tab for all the race entries as well as splurging for custom race jerseys for the group. Our graphic designer in marketing did a great job designing the shirts and we were just an incredibly visible presence out there.
Went for a quick jog and discovered that my shoes don't like my heels. In less than 10 minutes I had a raw spot on my Achilles. Fortunately, one of my co workers had a spare pair of socks. I hadn't brought any because I wasn't planning on wearing them at all.
I warmed up for a few minutes in the water as well, before heading to the swim start.
