Subject: Riding Routes & Clubs In San Francisco Area

Hi,

I will be in San Francisco the from October 19th - 27th with Laura, aka misscullen. I've rented a hybrid bike once and rode over the Gloden Gate bridge into Sausalito and remember it being quite beautiful. Can another recommend some other rides that we can do on our road bikes. Are there any group rides or clubs?

Thanks,

Jen

Hi Jen,

I'm fairly new to the area, and most of my riding has been in Marin, but perhaps these route sheets will be helpful in identifying potential rides: Velo Girls Route Sheets

Be ready for lots of climbing!

If you can get over into the East Bay, the Grizzly Peak ride has spectactular views of the Bay and San Francisco. It can be anywhere from a 15-40(+) mile ride. LOTS of hills though. Here are links to a couple of variations to this ride. There are more if you do a search on Google.

If you ride into Suasalito, continue north and head into Tiburon.  The town is one big loop with a few miles of bike path.  Check out Mike's Bikes web site, I don't ride with them but they usually have a few groups that go out from different shops in SF and the bay area.  Have fun!

Thanks very much both of you. I visited the Velogirls website, but I didn't see their route maps. Thanks for the link. I don't have much planned and have all day, so hilly long rides will work for me. I definitely check out what you guys recommend. I also found this website which seems good:'

I really shouldn't have taken the speedo off my bike to make it easier to fit in my bike case.
