Anyone else run it? One of the best hosted races I've ever run. Here I am cresting horse hill, a killer!

I'm thinking about it! Would you recommend it even if you can't train on trails?
I'm really wanting to do a 15k or 10-miler this fall, and I've been warned about the Hot Chocolate 15K - this would make a perfect substitution!

I used to ride my mt. bike there.  Those trails were tons of fun.

I got this message from one of the race directors today... I had asked him if this would be a good course for a beginner trail runner with road race experience... definitely think I'm going to do it!

Farmdale is probably one of the easier trail races in IL.
you will have no issues with it.

Both Mike and I go to great lengths to provide a very runnable but challenging course. You will also find the trail runners provide a lot of support for each other on the course.

I'd also suggest getting on the IVS forum and go to the trail running section to ask others any questions you might have. You have already run 6 miles what the heck is just 4 more?

Come run Farmdale make sure you introduce yourself to Mike and I and stick around for a while to enjoy the hospitality and watch the 30 and 50 milers as were sure you will be one next year!
Also check out our CITRA.org website for other races.
All the best,

I haven't done Farmdale, but I've run there a fair amount training for other trail runs.  They usually have an 8 or 11 mile loop and the option of 1 loop or 3-4 loops to make it 32-33 miles.  It does have the requisite stream crossing.

There is another trail run, McNotAgain, at McNaughton park in Pekin a couple weeks later.  The McNaughton loop is 10 miles with 2 stream crossings.

Depending on the weather. McNaughton can have 3 stream crossings. The year I ran the 50 (in April) we had a ankle deep crossing followed by a thigh deep crossing followed by a knee deep crossing with more mud that one knows what to do with in between. It was such a great day!

I was considering the Farmdale 50 but think I am going to head north to the Glacial Trail 50 that weekend instead.

The Farmdale Trail run is getting close.

10, 30, 50 mile option, course will be different again this year as it changes every year so there is no course record, every year the winner sets a new record!!

Also, the CRUD 8 hour solo or relay trail run will have a 24 hour option for solos or relay teams.

All the best hope to see you there.
