Total Time = 1h 43m
Overall Rank = 32/92
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 4/5
Pre-race routine:

Had a football game the night before, so I slept as long as I could. I did not sleep well but up at 4:30 and drive down.
Event warmup:

Turned in shoes, set up bike, and rode for about 2 minutes to make sure the seat was right
Run
  • 25m 51s
  • 9.2 miles
  • 02m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Had slight tailwind. I should have pushed it harder, but I did not want to kill myself for the run. That being said, I still kept it b/w 21 and 22.
What would you do differently?:

In retrospect I would go harder, but then who knows what I would have done in the run. Goal time was under 25 min so I was right there.
Transition 1

Comments:

No problems
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 45m 23s
  • 5.7 miles
  • 7.54 mile/hr
Comments:

Great run for me. I felt great during it. I really surprised myself. I felt great the whole time
What would you do differently?:

Nothing Goal time was under 50min so did well
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

No problems. Jumped on the bike and sped off
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 31m 51s
  • 9.2 miles
  • 03m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty strong headwind presented a good challenge. I was still fired up about the run so I pushed hard. Was tough going until I got to the bridge then I knew I was almost home
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. With the current level of bike fitness, that is as good as I can do. Goal time was 25 min so I was off
Post race
Warm down:

Had to put the bike in the car and speed back to Mobile. had to work at 10

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bike fitness was down a little, but I am still getting stronger. Did not get home until 11pm after the football game so that did not help either

Event comments:

Did not get to hang around afterwards and meet Ken, but I am sure we will race again. Knew several people there so I had a good time. I lost out on 3rd AG by 56 seconds and if I would have hit my goal time of 1:40 I would have came in 2nd. Oh well not bad for deciding to race on Wednesday!
