Got an email today for an early bird deal for the High Cliff Triathlon - savings are to be had for both the sprint and the HIM if you register by early November.

Check out www.midwestsportsevents.com

I tried to link to active.com for do the registration online but only had '07 available but can print out registration PDF and mail / fax in.

I'm doing the sprint again... not yet up for the HIM especially so early in the season So won't be long before I start finding trail running as my new friend.

Looks like I'll be in good company. Yeah, those trails caught me off guard so I try to incorporate some at least grass running now to get used to the uneven surface. Actually, I like off road better - as long as it's not too rocky or uneven - much easier on the body. And that hill ! woa! So we'll all be looking for some hill work both in the saddle and on our feet right so we can zip up that beast.

I seriously sat at my computer and looked at it for about 15 minutes until I realized that I was in fact reading it right, then I just thought I would wait a while to see if you caught it. I guess you beat me to it.

Someday I'll do the HIM..maybe... but as I figured it in my head, with my current level of training and even with increased volume, it's likely I'd take around 1.5 hr on the swim, 3.5 hours on the bike, and just shy of 2.5 hours on the run...plus add another 1/2 hr for transitions and I would probably take 8 hours to finish! YIKES! Don't wanna be dfl if I can avoid it

Hmmmm... you have a point there Craig. Lots can happen in 8 months...nearly enough time to birth a baby right? (nope, ain't doin' that)

I'll have a think.... hmmm.... see an improvement over my sprint time (good bolster to the ego) or come in DFL in the HIM (pat on the back for completing then run and hide)

I haven't signed up for either yet....but I'm considering the HIM. It'd be my first and I'd be right there with you at the back of the pack. (Seriously my speed trails way off over longer distances.)

With my IT band issues last year, I finished in 7:20 and I was not DFL. Come on ladies, take the plunge!

Just an FYI, the active online registration link now works. (but it's kind of jacked up when you try to sign up for the sprint-usat member option...it want a team...hmmm...)
