Comments: My plan with this race was to get a PR, with an outside shot of beating 30 minutes. Guess I did both! Felt comfortable during the first mile. I was getting passed a lot, but I just kept an eye on my watch and stuck to my pace. On the way to the second mile I started to pass a few people, and I was actually starting to wonder if I could keep the pace up. But once I was at 2.5 I knew if I could get up the last hill I'd be good. It was tough, but I put on a nice push for the last .1 and brought it home in under 30. So happy! What would you do differently?: Nothing, this was a fun race, and I'm really happy with how I did. Post race
Warm down: Walked around trying to find my husband. He wasn't expecting me to finish when I did, so he was lost on some corner, waiting for me to appear. Walked to the car, had some chocolate milk and took a shower at home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Still inexperienced at pacing myself. I probably could have gone harder, I just wasn't sure how hard I could go without blowing up. Event comments: This is a nice race, and lots of fun. Last updated: 2007-10-06 12:00 AM

Woke up about 6am (9am start time) and hung out in bed for awhile, just watching tv. Out of bed and stretching at 7. Toast with almond butter and milk about 7:30. Walked the dogs, crated them up and headed out to the race site.
Kept my jacket on while I ran about .66 miles to loosen up. Stretched out my legs, then went to find a bathroom. Waited in line for about 20 minutes, was no closer to the front of the line, and gave up. I decided that perhaps having to pee would make me go faster.
