Pre-race routine:

Klynne drove to the house and we had a cup of coffee together. We both debated weather or not to do this race because it was pouring out. Both of us decided that we would be disappointed if we didn't go and the rain slowed.
Event warmup:

Got to William and Mary, picked up race number, shirt, and raflle ticket. Chatted witha few CAT team members and then proceeded to the start. It had slowed to a fine drizzle so the rain gods were looking down on us with a smile.

Comments:

Started off in the middle of the pack and tired to keep my pace slow and steady. Klynne started a bit faster than I did, then I caught up to her. We had a few small inclines to deal with and they caught me by surprise. Mile one was a bit slower than the last race but I felt like I was giving it all I had. The rain stopped in the middle of the race!!

What would you do differently?:

MAybe not run the day before.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and grabbed a banana. We stayed around for the awards ceremony and the raffle. They were giving away a nice mountain bike along with a few other gift certificates. Klynne had to leave, and just after she did they called my number for a $50 gift certificate to the Wine Cellar here in town. Nice, since I never win anything!!!!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Running in the rain.

Event comments:

This was co-sponsered by the Colonial Road Runners and a local high school. CRR races are always done well and ususally have great door prizes.

Congratulations on a super race ... especially in rain and hills! And what a sweet surprise to get the gift certificate, too.
