Pre-race routine:

I stood around talked to a few friends. I tried to sit around and relax because I knew it was a long day. I took iboprophen and sportslegs. Had fun talking to some firstish time marathoners who were doing the marathon because they did not finish chicago. even found a few people ended up making the jump from marathon to ultra marathon
Event warmup:

none wait for the race.

Comments:

well I started out too fast liike I normally do but not too bad. I settled down quickly. I would get warm and then cold. I said high to alot of my new marathoning friends. I had some pains which I was taking drugs to ingore so I figure I better slow down and take it easy. Loop 1 I was right on pace. Though when I start loop 2 garmin lost the statlite. So I could no longer pace myself by speed. I have no clue of what I was running. I stayed with my zone 2 HR plan.

On the way back on loop 2 I lost 10 minutes. I was greeted by my parents on the way back on loop 2 and at the start of loop 3. I think they had fun seeing me.
Loop 3 I lost another 14 minutes. It was hard seeing everyone coming back as I just started out. Many of the 50 milers passed me on there way back but they also got 2 hour head start.

the big clock stoped but my friend kept the time running for me. how sweet.

Whole time I thoght of that friend, losing weight and a tri bike. Alot of tri bikes were passing me on the bike path and I was wishing I was on the bike. decided it might be a good place to bike.
What would you do differently?:

not sure. might have restarted garmin in order to have my pace but having my time was very useful thing to have. even though I had no mile markers I still had a clue from where the water stops were location
Post race
Warm down:

I sat and talked to friends. Had some red beans after the race

What limited your ability to perform faster:

well my weight is hige factor. Also I not done alot of long runs.

Event comments:

I really like this race. its a great first time ultra marathon. I done this one twice and I will do it again and again. Its a great deal, great shirt, and just a great race.
