I am debating on whether or not to tow my camper to KY or just book a hotel for next years race and was just curious if anyone had any recommendations for campgrounds/hotels in the area. It doesn't need to be too close to Lousville just in the vicinity. Also, this will be my first IM and I have no idea how fast the hotels/campgrounds fill up i.e. when is the best time to make reservations.

I called the KOA (approx 3 or 4 miles from site) and they do not take reservations until Jan/Feb. If you find any other campground let me know. With it being on Labor day weekend I would guess everything will fill up fast.

A few people are staying here, including myself. Only bad thing is you have to drive & park; but from what I gather it's pretty easy. One of the IMKY threads has a lot of info about lodging w/ the pros & cons of different hotels.

TownePlace Suites Louisville North
703 North Shore Drive
Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130
USA
Phone: 1-812-280-8200
Fax: 1-812-280-8200

Rate for a 2 room suite was like $130/night w/o tax.

I have a room at the host hotel, but with 2 dogs we would rather take our camper and stay as close as possible. Does anyone know of any other sites beside the KOA? Need a couple backup plans! Thanks

KOA 900 Marriott dr. Clarksville IN. 812-285-7530 closest right across the river

Track side RV park 3717 s 4th 502-366-2237 next closest by Churchill Downs, run route, kind of rough.

KOA shepherdsville 2433 Hwy 44 E. 502-543-2041 about 30 miles south of downtown

Hope this helps

There is a state park near by Taylorsville lake with camping. I have not stayed there yet.
