Woke up and got dressed and left the house. Didn't eat like I normally do (mistake number 1) I did grab a boost but didn't actually drink it (mistake number 2) Got to race site and meet up with Hanrsb, Vbert, Meegan, and Kerry. Sat in the car and chatted for a while. Went pee and then to race start to meet RT.

Comments:

I started out comfortable and tried to adjust accordingly. I felt good from the start. My breathing was controlled and my HR was good so I just kept pushing along. Mile 2 was 15:26..I tried to do the math in my head but I couldn't :) Mile 3 was 23:xx and I was still feeling strong. Mile 4 was in 31 flat and that's when the math was comming together in my head. I was on track for a fast race. My 6 mile split was 46:xx which is way faster than my pr for a 10k but I felt good so I kept on. At this point I kept thinking where is the turn around. I still couldn't see the number 1 guy. It is an out and back so the leaders would have to pass me at some point. Finally, here they come :) This means I get to turnaround. On the way back in around mile 8 I started to fatigue a little. I knew I went out too fast but there's nothing you can do at this point. So I gave myself little breaks when I felt I needed to slow down, I did. Mile 10 I started to get a sour feeling in my stomach. Thankfully that went away pretty quick. Between miles 8 and 11 I was passed by 8 girls, very sad. Before that no girls had passed me from the beginning. Boo. I was fading. With a mile to go I just dug in and powered through the last mile. It was awesome to look down at my watch at the 12 mile mark and be at 1:35:xx. I knew I would make it under 1:50 and that was my goal. yay!
What would you do differently?:

Eat before the race. Try to fight through the fatigue and hold on a little longer. Race on fresher legs.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung around for friends to finish and watch the awards. Walked to car and went to eat with said friends :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being this is a 14 minute PR I really can't say too much bad. I definitely didn't do my nutrition right, but other than that I left it all out there. My legs were still recovering from the 20 miler on Saturday so they weren't as fresh as they could have been. Otherwise, this was a great race.

To say that is impressive is an understatement. A huge PR. I keep going back to where you were one year ago and how far you have come and how there is only one way to get there.. by doing the work. Your determination is excellent, and your ability.. well, who knows, but limitless is what comes to mind. Keep training hard and stay focused. Not so easy this time of year, but you are figuring out the best path for that. Great Race!

Very impressive, Amy.  I remember trying to keep up with you on the trail. It seems like know your just gone with those impressive numbers.  You have surely step up your game.  Congratulations on an awesome PR, imagine if you would've done your nutrition correctly what number you would've posted.
