Sunny
Total Time = 1h 24m 51s
Overall Rank = 106/149
Age Group = 30 - 34
Age Group Rank = 9/18
Pre-race routine:

Had a MRP shake for breakfast at 0430. A couple of Gu's and lots of fluids. I should have had more to eat prior. It would have helped with the leg cramps on the bike.
Event warmup:

Calming music and stretching.
Swim
  • 15m 2s
  • 754 meters
  • 01m 59s / 100 meters
Comments:

My time estimate was perfect. Right on expected.
What would you do differently?:

The only way to have been faster is to train more and with an actual workout plan. Up til now I've just bee swimming what ever distance fits my whim.
Transition 1
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

This was the best T1 I've ever had. This was all about ignoring the dizziness that strikes me out of the water. It was tough not to jsut stand there and regain my bearings but I got it done.
What would you do differently?:

Nada
Bike
  • 35m 54s
  • 12 miles
  • 20.06 mile/hr
Comments:

This is the time minus my recorded transition times.

I had a great ride, but at the start of the third lap my left calf began to cramp badly. I had to stop pedaling at times and stretch against the pedals.
What would you do differently?:

Eat more fuel pre-race.
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

This would have been a great place to have dropped another 30 seconds, and I would have if I didn't have to stretch my calves out.
What would you do differently?:

Not have cramps.
Run
  • 31m 52s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

This was a terrific tri-run for me. I thought after the bike I would be battling cramps the entire way, but that didn't happen. I'm very pleased with this run.
What would you do differently?:

Nada.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking to get my head back. I was still dizzy from the pool at the finish line. I did take advantage of the free massage!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm tired of bitching about my knees...

Event comments:

This was my second fastest sprint tri ever. I fell like a kid who didn't study for a test and came away with an A-. I didn't think I was prepared for this race at all. If I were prepared I definitely could have broken into sub 1:20:00. There's alway March;).

Awesome job Sterling!!  Sounds like you had a great race. Awesome times too!!  That free masage was where they dislocated my rib after my race last year. (Tinfoilman was my first tri last year).  Glad you walke away unscathed!
