Subject: RE: New Duathlon just North of Rochester Hello Everyone! I am the Race Director for the Winter Begone! Duathlon you all have been talking about. Now to answer some of your questions. First I need to say that we have recently added a short distance to the duathlon, it is 2 mi Run/ 12 mi Bike/ 2 mi Run. We added it for participants not ready to handle the longer distances. When I chose the course length for the long distance duathlon, I was targeting the Olympic Distance Duathlon distances of 5K/40K/10K, but I had to limit the bike course to a 30K. There are so many duathlons around that are the 5K/20mi/5K style. Most of them have the run be the same course a second time. Well, those events are fine, I just wanted to do something different and create a challenging event. The 10K Run at the end requires the duathlete to pace themselves on the bike course. I live very close to the venue and I can tell you the bike course is quite nice. The roads are mostly new with plenty of shoulder on most of the course. The course is a mixture of small town area, open road, wooded areas, rolling hills, flats, and a residential area. So, anyway, come on over to Oronoco (10 miles north of Rochester ) to have some fun during one of the seasons first multi-sport events. If you have any questions related to this event, please don't hesitate to contact me. You can reach by the website: www.winterbegoneduathlon.com or via email. Check out our other key event the 1st Annual Rochesterfest Triathlon on June 29th, 2008. This event will be a big one for us. Take care,
