I raced IMAZ in 2007 at 220 and unless I lose another 20 this year I'll race IMFL at 200+.

I'm in for HIM CA in March for a warm up and then finally IM AZ in November '08.

Go team Clydesdales.

Registered for Ironman Boise 70.3 (HIM) in June and Ironman Arizona (Full) in Nov.  Now down to 239 from 275, but afraid that I will probably only drop another 10 to 15 lbs between now and then.

Fantastic goals everyone has posted. I wish you all the best. I know you can do it!

As for me my goal is to complete an IM on or before my 50th B'day which is far off.

I'll be running my 1st  - 1/2 Mary this April and my 1st HI in August. Looking to do IM in 2009.

Hi all,

I'm glad to see some women going Iron this year -- 2 at IMAZ on 4/13 and another at IMKY a little later.  Anyone else I missed?  I'd like to see and be inspired by some Awesome Athena training logs as you prepare for your journeys.

Me?  I'm Not dreaming of Ironman here...the 4:45 marathon I ran (my first, so my PR) about 10 days ago convinced me that I want to stick with the 70.3's

Cheers, -Sunny

Why no Iron for me?  Frankly, it sounds/looks boring to me.

I volunteered at IMOO last Sept and thought I might "catch the IM bug".  and I didn't....

I ran the Miami Marathon thinking I might enjoy finishing 26.2 in a respectable time and I did.

BUT... I cannot fathom wanting to combine my love of distance cycling and distance running into a one-day 15 hour pain-fest.  I think it'd make me grow to hate triathlon.  And so while I respect those who do race that distance, those who pour on the hours to train and make themselves ready for it, I do not want that for myself.

Ask again in a year or two and I may have a different reply.  I'm allowed to change my mind, but that's how I feel right now.

Cheers, -Sunny

That's funny I was thinking the EXACT same thing about marathons. BOOOOORING! Even though I'm going to do one in my Ironman I don't know it' s just something about not doing something else first before I run that makes it seem like torture for me. It's weird. When I did my half IM and I got off my bike I was so ready to run. But when I did a 1/2 Marathon only I was like - geez is this ever going to end. Oh well. I guess variety is the spice of life!

Yeah, you won't see me signing up for another marathon anytime soon... it was a looong haul.  I can't imagine doing it *after* riding for more than 7-8 hours.

Half-Irons are the perfect distance for me --  tough to complete in a good time, but I have a good time when I complete them.

Cool things about a tri is when your your on the bike you can go wow I can not wait to run. Running is so great.

I thought running around a .3 mile track for 24 hours would be boring but it wasn't. Probably the best race I ever done.

Yeah, I like HIM's too. I think they're the best distance. Olympics are so short it's like "why bother..." For those of us who have bodies built for endurance and slow ramp up times a HIM is perfect. This will be my first Ironman so we'll see if I "like" this distance.

Will be doing IMAZ in November. First IM distance for me after Lake Stevens 70.3 last year. I hope to be out of the Clydesdale category for the race. Currently anywhere from 205-208, depending on H2O.
Thirty week program starts in about 6 weeks. Let the fun begin....

I'm hooked on Iron distance races. I have completed 2 Iron distance races (The Vineman, '06, and The Grand Columbian, '07), and will be doing either IM Wisconsin, or Kona in '08. I am entered in the lottery, so if I get in by lottery, I will do Kona, otherwise I will be trying to qualify for '09 at IM Wisconsin.
I love Don Fink's "Be Iron Fit" IM training program, but need to step it up for this next race. Does anyone have any good IM training program suggestions?
I am still an Athena (159), but plan to be around 145 for race time.

Go Athena/Clydes!!!!

Welcome -- I think you'll find a lot of people like and use the IM training plans here without too much trouble.  Check 'em out!
