Overcast
Total Time = 2h 09m 27s
Overall Rank = /3
Age Group = over 6'
Age Group Rank = 1/1
Pre-race routine:

Played with my boys that morning waiting for the others to arrive. Set up the bike and got the gear out for the COLD DAY ahead.
Event warmup:

WARM UP !!!!!!

are you kidding me, we hit the water and just went. too cold to warm up
Swim
  • 09m 20s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

IT WAS COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually stopped to drain goggles and did breast stroke a bit cause it was cold. Not really racing in the water as much as just trying to swim about 10 minutes. We swam out 5 mins and turned around to swim back, definitely numb at this point, peed and it was easier coming home.
What would you do differently?:

Try to swim longer? I screamed on the first 2 breathes cause it was so cold. You tell me besides not swimming or going full dry suit. Happy I survived and looking forward to next year
Transition 1
  • 22m 55s
Comments:

This included getting out of water, taking picture (see below), walking fast back to the condo (to warm up of course) and pull a travis - make breakfast, hang out, and most of all WARM UP!!! finally got the DRY gear on and off we went riding. We made sure we were warmed up before we left - very important with todays wind (11mph) and cold (40's)
What would you do differently?:

HURRY UP! but why, this is a fun TRI in stupid conditions
Bike
  • 1h 12m 7s
  • 22.1 miles
  • 18.39 mile/hr
Comments:

We had a great ride out the Kettle Moraine Scenic drive, Awesome route, on the way back we did swing by mutri's possible future tri bike! stopped for 5 mins to say HI and off we flew
What would you do differently?:

If you could not tell by now, this is not a serious RACE as much is it is three triathlete's being stupid.
Transition 2
  • 05m 57s
Comments:

We got back and threw on the running gear, had some hydration. Got the gear ready and eventually walked out to the street to run. We figured about 2.4 miles til 40K
What would you do differently?:

who cares, it was fun!
Run
  • 19m 8s
  • 2.43 miles
  • 07m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

Splits
mile 1 8:43m/m
2 7:27m/m
.43 6:54m/m

WE jogged out to the turn around, and at 1.2 miles turned around for home, at this point we said go whatever pace you want - Josh is fast! but he kept us moving. I tried to keep up with Scott but could not pick up the little lead he had. I gave it a ton and just could not go any harder.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing - the run was great, I had another sub 8m/m run to add this year.
Post race
Warm down:

We walked for 8 minutes for about .5 mile just yappping and cooling off. Probably the best cool down I have ever had. really was just perfect

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The fact we were not trying to destroy one another all day. It was a fun triathlon which hopefully we can have more join in next year. It has become official - we will have an opening tri ion Memorial Day and a closer at end of Octobber/start of November.

GREAT TIME

Event comments:

OVERALL DECISION MAKING _ hahahahahahaha - who makes the decision to swim in low 50's water when it is 40's out?

You jack !...said in a most sincere (and slightly jealous) way

Sounds like a great time.

"So how do you judge yourself against other golfers triathletes?"

"By height"
