got up hee tonight around 5:30, did a little jog around town. Really nice, buzzing, woo hoo!!!! Gonna be at the swim around 8am Friday. See you all there. Then going to bike the run course. Will look for the signs. I suck at remembering names, so I will look for the signs.

On Wednesday when we pulled into town Lake Placid was still kind of quite but certainly not today. Wow! The town is buzzing with people and you can already feel the excitement in the air.

It all started this morning when I went down to the lake to do a lap of the swim course. There were about 100+ other triathletes there either coming out of the water or about to jump in. The IM folks had a tent set up where you could check in your bags. When you picked it up after your swim they'd give you a bottle of Gatorade. Music was playing and everyone was chatting and laughing as friends reconnected. It was a fantastic atmosphere. I looked around for any BT signs or to see if I'd recognize any faces from this thread but had no luck. I'll try again on Saturday when I'm going to go for another swim.

In the afternoon, the main stip was just filled with people walking around, going in and out of stores, etc. In restaurants staff and other patrons would ask others if there were participating in the IM event on the weekend. If you answered yes you immediately received congratulation for just getting here and well wishes for Sunday. It was all pretty neat but to be honest and until I sat down to type this up it really hasn't hit me. Amazing!

I'll try to snap some picks and post them.

I cant post pix now I don't have the connector for my camera but I have gotten some pics including...drum roll please...pix of me with Heather Fuhr and Paula Newby Frasier! Both were amazingly friendly.

Funny...I just met Heather monday evening. She was here in NJ to give a talk at a local running shop. We talked alot about LP. You're right. Very nice, very down to earth.

Hey guys,

I posted on the main IM forum about maybe meeting up for lunch on Saturday at say 1:30 (I know lots of you have family obligations then)http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=124061&posts=1&start=1  I figured more of the spectators/volunteers would see it over there. Let me know- I'll be at the swim tomorrow and Sat and have internet access here.

Yeah, the storms have been pretty brutal!  More like mid-afternoon Maryland thunderstorms than what I would have expected up here!  But the kids are out running around squirting each other and we are having fun.  Got the bike almost ready and (tried) to help Lauren with hers.  She's got a front der. rub now, which is not a big deal, that she wants to take a look at.

1st,
I apoligize for the rain. I did IM AZ which was 96 degrees and hot as could be. I said, I hope the next race is cooler.. maybe even a little rain to cool me off. Well, got my wish!

2nd,
A song kept going through my head...

Runnin' down a dream...
"I felt so good like anything was possible
I hit cruise control and rubbed my eyes
The last three days the rain was un-stoppable
It was always cold, no sunshine"

3rd,
16:51 (and some change)

Check that one off!

4 down 3 to go. (IM Wisconsin 07, IM Florida 07, IM Arizona 08, IM LP 08)...
IMCDA 09, IM Canada Hopefully 09, IM Kona 2023 (when im in the 50+ age group!

4th,

Hope everyone had a great time! Race you to the NA store for some finisher gear!

Tom
