Subject: Am I a bad person?
I spent a decent amount of time struggling to keep up with cycling buddies, and admiring (or being jealous of) the effortless running of other non clyde athletes. All I need for a pick me up is to get into a situation where I realize I am in far better shape then a skinny person who never exercises. Even if it is just walking up several flights of stairs with someone and they are working hard while I am not.

Is it wrong to find satisfaction i that?

Wrong?  No.  Shallow?  Maybe.  Misguided?  Probably.

Be weary of finding satisfaction in how you compare to other people.  Many people will set goals about where they place in their age group or being faster than someone else.  The problem is that we can't control someone else, we can only control ourselves.

I choose to find goals that pertain to me.  Are my times getting faster?  Am I running farther? Is it getting easier?  Am I getting thinner, leaner, stronger?  Do I look different in the mirror?   In the end, I do this for me...not for others, not to show off, not be better or worse than anyone else.  I do it because I enjoy it.

If you get enjoyment from the fact that you can walk up several flights of stairs without a problem, that's one thing.  If you get enjoyment from walking up stairs "better" than someone else, just remember that there's someone out there who can walk up stairs better than you.  How will that person make you feel?

I second the T-shirt nomination!

I've been reminded too many times this year.

I have no problem with your observations assuming you are admiring where you were and where you are going, not that you are "better or worse" than someone else. To see your self in others is ok by me
