It's cold here now, and I don't carry anything for 5 miles or less. For the long run on the weekend, I have a Camelback belt that carries 28 oz. of water with some of those fizzy electrolyte tablets (NUUN or Camelback) and carry a gel or two. I drink some water every 15 minutes and take the gels at 1/3 and 2/3 of the time/distance. If I'm stuck on a treadmill at the gym, I bring more water, as it's much hotter in there.

on my training runs I do not bring anything but water. farest I done only water is 8 miles. I stick in zone 2 and most of my big training has meals at the end so I use that to recharge myself.

Since I am trying to lose weight I am trying to avoid the bring in too many calories during the workout so I make the workout weight lose useless.
