Pre-race routine:

nice change from getting up around 4am for tri's. Up around 6am, 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter, coffee, water.
Event warmup:

My IMAZ plan had 1hr min run plan. So since it was so cold out, i ran part of the course, 1.5 miles out and back.

Comments:

Seeded myself in the 6 min mile group, so not too far back from start. This was my first run only race in sometime, Came into the race gunning for 6:30 - 6:45 per mile range. First half mile was kind of log jammed and a stroller person ran the wheel on my back heel. After about .5 mile, it cleared enough for me to reach my pacing. First 2 miles were solid, as i passed the 2 mile mark it read 13:40, so sitting at 6:50 miles at this point. I just kept pacing myself, had a kind of low moment between mile 2.5 - 3, got my breath back and still feeling good, at the 3 mile marker it read 20:47 - yuck 7 min mile between mile 2 & 3. Next 2 miles, especially last 1.5 I felt really stong. Finished at 33:47 (13 min flat last 2 miles - 6:30 avg).
What would you do differently?:

Know the course, didn't realize so many hills, although i felt strong and very pleased with outcome.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, grabbed a water, chatted with a few folks (jack & adam... from jack & adams bike shop)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

next year i want to hit 30 - 32 on this course. My AG winner was 26:59

Event comments:

Nice way to start off turkey day.

Good job fighting through the crowd and posting a great time.

Yep, these races are a lot easier to get ready for than a tri; just get dressed and put on your shoes.
