Pre-race routine:

It was storming and there was a delay in the start. I originally planned to do the olympic, but stuck with the sprint to try to make sure I got it all in. Waited around under a pavilion, tried to stay loose and relaxed.
Event warmup:

Not much, swam a couple hundred yards, tried to stay cool in the wetsuit.
Swim
  • 10m 46s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 09s / 100 meters
Comments:

Terrible visibility. I couldn't see my hands when my arm was straight out. I had to sight far more frequently, and that screwed up my breathing a little bit.

T1 is included in swim time.
What would you do differently?:

Try to slow down. I swim so much faster in training and the pool, when I slow down the arm speed and made good technical strokes. Its just something that I expect will improve with experience. This was my second race, and the water sucked!
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Time was included in swim.
What would you do differently?:

Don't remember. I'm writing this report months after the race.
Bike
  • 42m 15s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 17.61 mile/hr
Comments:

It felt like it was a lot fast that it actually was. I picked off loads of people.
What would you do differently?:

I don't know. Maybe put more effort into it. I was not totally spent when I came into the finish.
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
Run
  • 25m 57s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Running will be a major focus for the off season. I broke down and walked twice. Not for long, but I did it. Not too happy with myself.
Post race
Event comments:

It was okay. I won't race this venue again though. The water was horrible. It wasn't the organizer's fault though. The previous year, I was at the saem lake and water was fine. Just a big algae crop this year.
