For the past several weeks I have been working out hard and regularly.  I think I am eating pretty well but I can't seem to get of my current plateau.  Does anyone have any advice for some who is getting very frustrated.

There could be a whole lot of different reasons why!  It would be useless to say without knowing more about your eating habits and your regular workouts.  I myself still weigh the same I did last year even though I train regularly and have done a few tri's.  Admittedly, I love good wine and good food, which I refuse to give up!  I figure that I can live with weighing 220 and still being fit, whereas I would be miserable without good food and wine!

Chris, two years ago I was at around 280, now I'm about 230. I was about 260 when I started training for a tri. Plateaus happen. Lots of things can cause them. Typically with us big guys its a starvation reaction from your body. It's used to ingesting a certain amount of calories and when you diet your body freaks and thinks it's starving and thus attempts to hang onto every bit of food that you put into it.
Don't worry about it, just stay the course. Look at it this way, you didn't put on the weight all at once, so why should it come off all at once?

I used a computer aid that I found very effective. It tracks your metabolic rate, your caloric intake and makes dailey adjustments based upon how much weight you are loosing as it relates to your weight lose goal. I highly recommend it. Its called "dietpower" and I think it's found at www.dietpower.com. Its great because when you input everything you eat you can see how it effects your weight lose. (I'm at a plateau right now because I stopped using dietpower and have been cheating).
Don't worry, with proper diet, (Don't starve yourself!!!!), and exercise you will loose the weight, it will just take some time.

Hi Chris,
I started out a few years ago at 310, plateaued for a while at 255 which is where I was when I started training in June this year. I am currently 188 - plateaus happen.

The last two weeks have been driving me nuts because I had stalled at 190. Finally over the last three days the scale has been moving down again. I do something which you can try but I don't know if it is just my metabolism that handles things this way. I bump up my calorie intake by about 300-400 calories a day for a few days and then drop it down again. It usually helps with the plateaus

I've been on a plateau for 6 months. If you find a miracle let me know.

A little while ago I weighed 240lbs. I started exercising and eating right, but it took about two months for my body to catch up. Then, between March and May I lost 30lbs, I just couldn't keep the weight on. Then, from June until September, plateaued again until October when I lost another 30lbs before December. It seems for many people that if you just keep at it, you will eventually start to lose weight again, provided everything else is in line.

When I started training in April this year I weighted 230. I hit a lot of plateaus during my weight loss. The biggest thing is making sure that you are eating enough calories so that your body does not think it is starving. When I started I was eating around 1200-1400 calories a day on a very low carb diet and at first I lost weight, but when I hit 200 I stopped losing. I have since increase my calories to about 1800 and I am eating more carbs and I currently weight 192. Just keep working all of a sudden you will start to lose again.
