Champion 6742 The Green Between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh | Subject: Gold Membership...thoughts? I'm seriously considering the Gold Membership here, but wanted to get some feedback. For those of you who have/had it, what do you think? What can I expect? It looks like a pretty amazing offer. What I think I need at this point are: 1) A good solid work plan that will fit in with my (VERY) busy schedule 2) Technique improvement on the swim 3) Building strength and endurance on the run 4) A more comprehensive nutrition plan (I'm not overweight, but I think I need to fuel the machine better) 5) I'd like to begin focusing on competing, not just finishing...or at least finishing better.
Anyway, I'd like to know what i can expect with the Gold Membership...thoughts?

Cycling Guru 15134 Fulton, MD | Subject: RE: Gold Membership...thoughts? I believe you can get all of that from here except maybe #2. I think having a coach physically watch you and give you tips is more beneficial than net communication or phone conversations. Some things you just need to see to get it in my opinion. |

Bob 2194 Binghamton, NY | Subject: RE: Gold Membership...thoughts? If you use the coaches the Gold membership is a bargain. If you aren't going to use the coaches via the training plan support then the Silver membership is virtually the same. I was a gold member last year and did try to use the coach's support but eventually hired a coach last year and dropped down to a silver membership. BT has given me a lot over the past few years. A great place to log workouts is where it started. The people I have met and the friendships I have made through this site are priceless. I followed a marathon training plan last winter and a HIM plan last spring and could not have been happier with the results. I went with the Silver membership this year to give the most I can back to BT. A good portion of the gold membership goes to D3 coaching to pay them for their service. Therefore if you are going to use their services it's a great deal. If not, go with Silver. Either way, train smart and race fast!! |

Cycling Guru 15134 Fulton, MD | Subject: RE: Gold Membership...thoughts? Oh, and I wasn't implying that you shouldn't go for it. What I meant was that with the Gold package the only thing of those questions on your list was #2 that might benefit more from one on one in-person work. The other stuff the packages here are very good at providing. |

Anyone else out there use Gold? |

Regular 58 Eden Prairie | Subject: RE: Gold Membership...thoughts? I had Gold for my first year with BT, but will switch to Silver or bronze going forward. I started with Gold thinking that the coaching would make it worth it, but found it difficult to "engage" with a coach in any meaningful way via BT format. I have suggested to BT that the coaches reach out to Gold members and do more to engage with Gold members (my own initial attempts were very one-sided...I reach out, got some feedback from coach and then the dialogue would drop...) and have the coaches actively initiate reaching out to users. |

Champion 13323 | Subject: RE: Gold Membership...thoughts? Under the current Gold membership, it IS up to the user to ask the questions. That is the only reason that the price is effectively $14 month (including the plans) - probably way too cheap anyway. At this price, the coaches can't actively initiate, follow and fully engage the athlete if no questions are asked. The power of this membership is that is IS unlimited forum Q&A. You have a question, the coaches respond. You have to ask the questions and followup on anything that is unclear. There are several Gold BT'ers with active multipage (4-6 page) training threads on Q&A with the coaches for which I would think these users have found the dialogue very important. * Though I just finished talking with Mike Ricci last night on the phone, we will be soon trialing a new version of the online coaching as from the survey, many of the Gold Members DO want weekly, ACTIVE feedback on their training logs. So look for some posts on being a trial member to this new and improved online coaching. Unlimited forum Q@A + weekly training log analysis. |

Veteran 189 | Subject: RE: Gold Membership...thoughts? I currently have the gold membership but never really got into using the coaches on the site but the training programs are great and will really get you ready along with being able to impor them into the training log and compare with actual is nice too. I think next time I am going to go with Silver membership when mine is up. That being said if you think you are going to use the coach support it is definetly something to consider. |

Anyone else out there use Gold? My boyfriend was a Gold member. He seemed to like it. For the price, it was a good "coaching" option. Although if you want something personalized, go for a USAT certified coach. A coach will check in with you, see how you are doing, hold you accountable to your workouts, modify your training plan to fit your races, lifestyle, etc. I get the feeling that BT Gold Plan doesn't do that. But I could be wrong. |

Champion 8540 the colony texas | Subject: RE: Gold Membership...thoughts? I have been for the past few years.. My renewal is going to be up in a couple of weeks and I won't be renewing as a Gold. I'll most likely put that money towards an Endurance Nation Plan or make my own. I think if you are starting out it's great, but once you get to know your own body and/or develop a network of other people whether they are coaches or not that you can bounce ideas off of, having the gold is not as necessary. I can think of three people I know of locally that I consider friends who have taken the USAT coaching classes, that if I had a quick question would give me an honest answer and they know me personally. I can also think of another 3 or 4 experienced triathletes whose knowledge is waaay up there and I would trust their opinions. That said I've been very happy with the interaction I"ve had with the coaches on here. Their knowledge and response time have been fantastic. I just found myself asking experienced friends locally more questions than the coaches on here. |
