Total Time = 2h 03m
Overall Rank = 70/125

Age Group Rank = 9/9
Pre-race routine:

Had coffee, water, PB on whole wheat bagel. Drove to race got there with reasonable time to spare. I had 1tbsp of Hammer Gel mixed with water about 20min before start.

Event warmup:

Didn't really do much warmup. Did some dynamic stretching, and some static stretching - tried to loosen up my ankles, shins, and calves, as much as possible.

Comments:

I got out to slow start. I wanted to keep my pace easy at the start to make sure I had something in the tank for the end of the race. I got stuck behind some people who were going slightly slower than me at the beginning, but it turned out to be not so bad as I had plenty in the tank for the 2nd 5 miles. I hydrated and nourished well. I think I was right on target - I had 8oz of GU2O and 1 pack of Hammer Gel Raspberry that I ate at the 5mile turnaround.
What would you do differently?:

I think I drank too much coffee at the beginning because I peed 2x in with 30 minutes before race start, and then again at about 10min in, accounting for my 14min mile the first mile.
Post race
Warm down:

None, really. Drank some water, walked a bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Didn't know the course that well - my scouting from the previous week was the wrong trail. This trail was single track winding through the forest. Prety treacherous footing.

Event comments:

There weren't alot of volunteers around, but it was a 10mile trail run, so I'm not sure what good having people out there would do. The trail was well marked. I wish they had but "single track" trail in the race literature. I don't think it would have changed anything other than expectations. A 10:30min/mile pace was too fast for me on this type of course. Overall, it was a great race, and I passed LOTS of people at the end. Negative splits are good. I left everything out on the course today. :)

The body held up pretty well. I was afraid I might have thrown out my shoulder during a spill somewhere in mile 2, but it was okay. The shin was fine, and the ankle held up well. After the run, though, the ankle started to hurt pretty good so I iced it. I think it was just sore because I hadn't really run on single track trails - all the side to side stuff probably did it in. I suspect it wouldn't have hurt as much on a stable road.

Yep there is a definite risk you take when running trails. You could do stability exercises - I have a bunch from p/t and you could always take up dance as cross training - I am only half joking here. There are other trail runs closer by than the Finger Lakes - anyway nice RR and congrats
