way to go on the race! and thanks for all of the detail, it helps all of us as we prepare for ours. Just reading about your wreck gave me a short panic attack! I hadn't thought about worying about THAT too.

I feel like a bit of a schmuck here, but I'm going to drop out of our group and look to join one of the new April Mentor groups.

I had a blast at the beginning of this group, but I really want ongoing feedback from a number of people, and I'm afraid that our group (for various reasons) has dissolved to only a couple of us left here.

I think you've been great, and really supportive, and I think you should look to start another mentor group next year - this group was a reflection of those who joined / unjoined as opposed to your mentorship.

Thanks for everything, and I'll definetly be keeping you on my friends list and hope you'll check up on me from time to time.

Not a problem at all - regardless of the group's activity, I would encourage that anyway so that you get a variety of perspectives and can learn from others.

I did see that brick you did the other day, and to tell you the truth, I don't think you're going to have a problem at all figuring out what your bike pacing should be going into the run.  You put up some excellent times, and you'll learn more every time you do a brick.  By the time you get to your first race, it'll be a piece of cake! Smile

In case we are still posting and checking I thought I'd post a query.

One of the aspects I am most confused about is nutrition. I know basics, but get confused and overwhelmed trying to follow guidelines for implementing the basics. Does anyone know of a good, simple resource for nutrition related to recovery especially.

I just checked the group to see if anyone has posted, so sorry for the delay in responding.

As far as recovery, from what I have read, you should have a recovery drink within 30 minutes of completing your workout. A recover drink with a 3:1 or 4:1 carbohydrate:protein ratio. I go back and forth between two things. Accelerade and low fat chocolate milk.

Do a search on the articles on the site. I believe I have read info on this here.
