Subject: Car Suggestions?
I didn't know which forum to post this on, so hopefully this is as good as any. I'm in the market for a new car. My 3 biggest concerns are:
1) gas milage / size - no huge SUVs here
2) reliability - I'm a Toyota girl at heart
3) my bike! I need a car that's easy to get the bike in and out of. I have a bike rack, but with where I work (very bad area) that's just something else I'd have to carry up to my office every morning I bring my bike in. So, I'd rather a car I can just easily put the bike inside of.

So far I've looked at the following:
Toyota Rav4 - still a possibility but a bit big for me
Toyota Prius - hated driving this for a variety of reasons
Scion xD - going to give this a second chance but the one I drove didn't have much pickup
Honda Fit - loved this one, but possible it's too small - I don't want to get run over by the trucks here. Also afraid I love it now but might get bored with it after year or so
Honda CRV - I'd get the Rav4 before this one
Hyundai - didn't like the cars I tried here. I think it was the Tuscon and Santa Fe

So, right now it's down to possibly the Rav4, Fit or Scion. My mom mentioned the Nissan Rogue so I'll test drive that tomorrow. But, I am still looking for any or all suggestions as I'm not sold on any of the above cars yet. Also, if you have any of the cars I'm considering and have any things to say - good or bad - I'd love to hear it.

Thanks!

Get a 'yota ... you can never go wrong.

The RAV4 is awesome. Plenty of space to haul all your triathlon gear and its a Toyota so you know it's reliable and gets decent gas mileage.

Bummer on the Saturns - Houston has no hybrids yet. I couldn't find any on the dealer's website, and the dealer I called said no one has them yet, they're hoping to get them in the next few months, I need a car by the 1st :-( . But, thanks for the suggestion!

Love my RAV4-highly recommend it. Can easily carry two bikes and two passengers inside by removing only the front wheels, can also carry one bike and up to four passengers without removing the wheel.

Have you considered the Honda Element, or is that too big?  Seems to be becoming the vehicle-of-choice for many triathletes...

I'd look into that one as well,  I have the toyota matrix,, very nice amount of storage room, I've put my bike in the back with gear but usually use my saris rack on the outside.

Try a Subaru Outback or Impreza Wagon. I have the Impreza and with the seats down I can fit my bike in easily.

I have a mazda protege and though it's not the super sportiest thing out there, it is reliable and gets great gas milage.  I've taken it on long road trips and put lots of miles on it. I really like mazdas.  i can fit my bike in the trunk without taking the wheel off when i put down the back seats.

my dad has the CRV and he loves it.  he got it for the gas mileage and the room.  the new ones are really nice looking.
