Pre-race routine:

Was not ready for this race I almost did not do it. Ate a pb&j and drank water before race ate 1/2 banana 1/2 hr before race. I felt like I was going to throw up and did not feel well at all. I pushed myself to keep going and to do the race.
Event warmup:

Did some light stretching and walking around

Comments:

Very difficult race to get through. I would've liked to have run this much faster and felt better. I had too much going on the weeks before the race so I ended up not being as focused before the race as I would have liked.
What would you do differently?:

I definitely learned a lot from this race. I will run more long runs before the race next time. You can't always predict what is going to happen. I didn't know I was going to be going to the cardiologist and getting all kinds of tests done. Obviously I couldn't change that. I definitely want to figure out why my HR is so high, hopefully before race season I can get this figured out and fixed.
Post race
Warm down:

Heather was at the finish line to take my chip & give me a big hug. It was so wonderful to finish. I felt like I really had made an accomplishment even if it was much slower than I would've liked. I walked around and stretched my knee and feet were in pain. I took some ibuprofen right away and Heather gave me my medal and a blanket.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Pain in my knee & feet, my HR staying high in the 190's low 200's

Started out running at a slow pace to keep my HR down at around 170. Walked through water stations. I felt really good around mile 6 and sped up HR was high 190s miles 7-9 were very difficult and had pain in my left knee and feet. Kept telling myself I can do this. When I saw the sign for mile 10 I was really psyched and felt really good I pushed myself and actually did not feel pain for awhile. The last mile seemed like forever there were some decent hills.
