Here was one of my future hunting dogs.

The red/apricot one is Davey--he's mine, a little over 2 years.  The black one is Goliath, he's 13 and old...I always said if I got a dog he'd be Davey so we would have Davey and Goliath! He loves people and is FULL of energy!

I hear ya though. One of my greyhounds (Bella) just came down with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) and had to have her front right leg amputated. She's going through chemo right now. She's doing very well healing, given the circumstances. Today she played in the yard and ran around for a bit, and it's the first time since her amputation. She's a fighter.

The picture looks a litte deceiving... It's actually a rubber toy which lasted about 2.5 minutes! My beagle can destroy toys meant for big dogs. The best luck I have had so far is with the white and green nylabones with the hard tips on the ends. They last about 3-4 days.  The dogs do love the air dog squeek tennis balls but they manage to rip all the fuzz off and then proceed to eat the rubber off of them.... the dogs are very expensive dogs!!!!

Sorry to hear about your dog pirate... the dogs become part of the family and when things like this come up there is no hesitation about spending the money to take care of them. I just wish my one dog (reese) wouldn't be such an idiot and eat things she isnt supposed to! Hopefully your dog is doing better though. Keep us posted.

Here's Mallery.  She's 6yrs old and we got her in June.  She blew her Achilles in July and is just getting back the strength in her leg.  If all goes well, she might be able to run very short distances with me next summer.
