Comments:

Took off fairly fast, but not too fast. Made the turn off Main Street and hit the first mile mark at 7:21. Not quite as fast as I had hoped but ok. Nest mile and a half went well, pushed but apparently not hard enough. I was worried about saving enough to get up the hill on Buffalo Street and still have enough for the sprint down Main Street to the finish. I took my hat and gloves off but was still dressed a bit too warm for todays weather. I struggled with what to wear, and decided on a long sleeve wind jacket with wind pants. Could have gone without the jacket I guess. It was one of those days that the temp was ok, but was very windy so it felt colder than it was. I should have dress cooler and just had an old sweat shirt on that I could have tossed before the start.
What would you do differently?:

Dressed more appropriatley for one. I think if you want to be fast in a 5K you have to train for the distance. I have been training for marathons in the fall and lately bike focused so not much speed work. Some hill training would probably help as well. But this is for fun so I am not going to lose any sleep over it.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung around and waited for the race to wrap up. Had some hot chocolate and a bagel and socialized with some old friends and some of my family that ran.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not training for this distance and over dressing some.

Every race I struggle with what to wear.  It'll come with experience I hope.  7:21 is nothing to sneeze at.  Sorry I missed the race.  Oh well I'll drown my sorrows in the hot tub and scotch.  Good race Ken hard changing to the run muscles from a bike workout.

Nice race. Can you teach me how to run? I would love to post those kind of timesSmile. When I ran West lake on friday I was peeling off the layers also, started out cold, but quickly warmed up.
