Looking at my plan I have, next week for the 8th, "Run 8x30 left foot strikes". What the heck are left foot strikes?! Then, it goes on to say "skip 40 times back to the start". Does it mean to literally skip back to where I started? I can imagine how silly I'm gonna look folks passing by

sounds like strides...run and count your left foot hitting the ground when you've hit 30 you're done and you start over. I would just just jog back...

Yes, what running2far said, but...skipping is a good plyometric exercise.

I incorporate skipping into my run training.  I skip during warmup or cool down.  I'm not sure how beneficial it really is but it does add some variety and it makes me feel young and carefree like a little kid.  Skipping can also be beneficial if you are trying to adjust your foot strike from a heel strike.

Who cares what you look like?  I think it's kind of fun.

Oh, skipping is fun and it turns heads! As a 45-yr mother, I will do anything to turn a few heads!

I just did mine at a track, got no second looks....because of my skipping.  The way I cut my sideburns in yeah people try to not look thinking it will only encourage me.  This city is big enough I dont worry too much maybe Ill work in a couple cartwheels too.  Could catch on

I've had this workout in my plan a few times and really like it. The left foot strikes are like strides, just count the number of times your left foot strikes the ground. Keep the knees high when skipping back. Depending on how long your legs are the 40 skips might not get you back to the start. I did mine mainly on the local HS track but did it on the road a few times too.
