Got a 75 gift card for Target and thought I might use it on some new head phones for my ipod during my runs. Don't have to use it all at once and can add a little to it if need be. Any suggestions on decent headphones that work well when running? I have the standard ones that came with my ipod but they tend to fall out on cold mornings. I know there are the Bose in ear that are 100, my concern is I could buy and trash 5 set at $20 each vs having one set that is $100 that I have to worry about.

Thanks

These are pretty cheap and not very sexy, but they are the only thing I can keep from falling out while running. I would be careful with noise cancelling sets. as I like to be able to hear a little of what is happening around me. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=5335657&type=product&id=1051826204520

That was my fear with the noise canceling sets, I want to hear a train or a dog or what not. Thanks

Those are the exact ones I was about to recommend. I've owned three sets and quickly recommend them to folks looking for a set of workout headphones. They stay in place very well, sound good, and are pretty durable. Nicest part is that if/when they fail, you're only out $12-15

X3 on the cheap Sonys, they can be found for <$8 on Amazon.com.

If you want something a little better, these Sennheisers are supposed to be good.

I use those same sonys as well.   They have decent sound quality, they're cheap, and they don't fall out.  Plus the over the ear thing seems to distribute the weight better during running's bounce.  I think they are $10 at target.

Exactly how I feel.

I save my good 'phones and train with $1 cheapies that actually look exactly like ipod 'phones and the sound quality is adequate for working out in, since I generally keep the volume pretty low for safety. No worries on breaking them or ruining them with sweat, etc. I bought 10 pairs for $10 at a chain dollar-type store and still have 7 pairs in my drawer - I get at least 6 months out of a pair before one of the wires kinks and dies.

MONROEDUCK...

I got the Bose In Ear headphones for Christmas and they are amazing!

They come with three different size ear pieces and the large works best for me when running. I can still hear things around me and the earpieces are rubber and can be taken off and washed!

They also come with a little lanyard thing that attaches below the headphones and goes around the back of your neck that allows the headphones to be way more stable and less prone to falling out from running or any other activity.

I am super stoked on mine, but again they were a present so decide what you want to do.......

I've tried both of these. The Sennheisers are the only ones that stay in the ears for me. They are also less resistant than the Sony's to temporarily dying due to sweat getting in (though they're not perfect!)

x4 on the sonys but I pay a couple more bucks and get the MDR-J11G's instead.  They're water resistant, and my biggest problem is sweat - I've had headphones go bad after 3-4 workouts from sweat getting in the earbuds, and none that lasted more than a couple of months, but these are still going strong after 5 months.  I also find them to be louder than other cheap sets, a plus in a noisy gym.

I just bought a pair of Nike around-the-ear buds at Target for $25. They stay in place while running and I can still hear traffic and stuff with my music playing.

I sorta like the around the ear phones rather than the buds; but ditto on going cheap and disposable rather than expensive.  I sweat through them at least every 4 months.
