Pre-race routine:

coffee, yogurt and granola about 3 hours prior to race. drove up and got a speeding ticket on the way. Really poorly organized - the bar was incredibly crowded no signage, took forever to figure out where to go etc...though I pre-registered including for a small t-shirt an hour before the race they were out of smalls as they were not checking the registrations. you had to go to 3 separate spots of an incredibly crowded bar to deal with begin PRE-registered! my boys registered when we got there and it was much simpler, though no t-shirt. t-shirt not a good one anyway, so if I do this race again would register on site
Event warmup:

jogged for 1.3 miles still was cold at the start

Comments:

no water stations, no markings for 5k to let us know where we were at, crossed itself and the 10K which meant some awkwardness
What would you do differently?:

where something over my mouth to warm the air going in as my lungs really had a hard time with the cold wind
Post race
Warm down:

lousy bud lite and water were the only offerings.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

headwind, lungs limited. if I had either looked at my garmin or if they had signage would probably have pushed much more in the last mile

did not wear HRM but did wear garmin - did not look - will download later to look at pacing
Course: looped course, wet and really windy!!!! major headwind for most of the race so though my time is virtually the same as the last 5k I am ok with it due to the headwind factor. Ok official results are up and I did better than I thought and that is with the headwind!!! 8:18 pace!!!

Nice run in the cold.  Hate inhaling cold air.

Sorry for the speeding ticket.

Yeah, Bud Lite sucks.

Cool, you posted a race report

Running in really cold weather is definitely not optimal and a headwind is definitely no fun but it sounds like you made the best of it.

There are plenty of really well organized races in your area that will offer you something other than skunky beer
