What a way to start the week, had a bit of a fender bender before 7:30 a.m.!  And it was totally my fault.  I'm still waiting on a call back for a time to take the Beastie Mobile in for an estimate, no major damage, so I hope I won't be without it for too long!  Don't know if I'll get any training in today, it's already getting pretty hot out there, and of course, humid.  My hammies are bitching and moaning from bending over and pulling weeds yesterday!  And I only did half the bed, so I still have half to go!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!   Gonna call this a rest and recover kind of day, although I did go out and do about 3 hours of yardwork!

Gatesville Fire Ant ride.... 100K, 62 miles, my furthest ride yet!! I was kind of worried about getting through this one even though we've done 55 twice in the past month or so. I have to say that this ride had the absolute WORST chip seal I've seen, and it went on for miles, into the wind, slightly uphill. I finally rode some guy's wheel just to make it a tad easier. It started off nice and cool and overcast... the radar was showing rain at 6 a.m., so we were a little worried, but we never got rained on. About 40 miles in it started getting tough, the sun came out and the wind picked up to a bout 17 mph. We hit every rest stop, sometimes just for a potty break, but most to refill bottles and get some cold PowerAde, and most of the rest stops had HOMEMADE COOKIES, which worked like jet fuel, I was ready to go after a couple of cookies! The last 20 miles were the most scenic, out on rural roads with little traffic, but the hills also picked up too. We hit one low water crossing that had water going over and they had a volunteer guiding us through it, about 6 inches deep and it totally soaked my shoes, but aaaaaah, it was cold and felt good! I will admit that miles 45-58 were pretty dark, I was just glad to be making forward motion and even the cookies didn't get me going. Finally with about 4 miles to go I got a second wind and we made it in pretty strong. I rode around the parking lot until Garmie told me 62, no way was I going to settle for 61.81! Once I got off the bike and got the bike gear off and had some more cookies and PowerAde, I felt pretty good! The volunteers were WONDERFUL and there was a portapottie at every stop. Now, are you sitting down?? The HUBS went with me!!! He took home a new Orbea road bike last night and only did the 10 miler, but the thought that he even made the effort to TRY is amazing! I hope he falls in love with it as much as me, it would be such a good couples thing to do. He's not home to see what he thought, but my fingers are crossed it was a positive experience!

Just a short ride after a saddle adjustment. On my last ride, and suffering from saddle pain, I noticed that the seat had moved ALL the way back! I'm pretty sure that is NOT where it was supposed to be and I thought that could add to the pain problem, so I adjusted it yesterday and took it out for a quick spin. Stopped midway for a quick adjustment and made just a teeny bit more after I got home, so I am hopeful that 62+ miles tomorrow will not be TOO painful!

Just a short one before this weekend's 100K ride. Felt good and strong! Put my race wheels on and the back derailleur was making all kinds of funky noises and skipping gears, so gotta take it in for a quick adjustment. Afterwards we both cleaned up and drove another route we want to take and it was gorgeous!! Very rural but the roads were paved except there were patches of hard packed dirt here and there. Can't wait to ride it!

Thunderstorms came through yesterday just as was about to get ready to go out and run. but it sure cooled things down nicely! So nice to run early in the morning, but in the sunlight! I always feel so much slower than when I run in the dark, ha ha!

I feel so proud of myself.... second day of summer vacation and I've book dr. appts already!  I will get seen next week about my freakin' shoulders and I will attempt a swim before then to see if there is any improvement, and to get all my referrals to specialists renewed.  I probably need to get a mammogram done too sometime this summer... ugh, hate them, but it's necessary esp. with my history.
