I don't even want to know what the feels like temp was. Although, there was a bit of a breeze that would come through, and if I was in the shade it wasn't too terrible. Still, as expected for a hot run, HR was high and speed was low. Next time, I get up when the alarm goes off.

I'm not sure what possessed me to sleep into today, leaving me to do my run after work in the mega heat, but there you go. Fortunately it is a short one (about 35 minutes) so it won't be too bad.

Did my warm up and cooldowns mostly BR with fins. The pool was so crowded today, full of Phelps wannabes diving in and attempting to butterfly, only to discover that they are more the doggy paddling type. I love that the Olympics gets people stoked to try new sports, but come on...maybe get some lessons before you try something like that? And pay attention to what's going on around you? You don't get a lane to yourself, when its this crowded you may have to circle swim, and it is really rude to even try to butterfly in a crowded lane like that.

Just barely 70 degrees, and even though the humidity was high, it was still so nice. I was a bit faster, too, and made it much further up the hills before my HR got high. I can't wait for fall running season.
That being said, I am having some weird cramping in my left arch now that I'm sitting at my desk. I'm going to try rolling it on a golf ball to see if that loosens it up.

I have Olympics fever! A brief list of the unusual sorts of stuff I've been enjoying, besides my standard gymnastics/swimming:

water polo - men in baby bonnets
handball - I have no idea what's going on
table tennis - this is not your basement ping pong
archery - between Arrow, Hunger Games, and Olympics, I kind of want to take archery lessons

So men and women compete together in Equestrian events. But why don't they do that in shooting? I mean, archery I get, b/c upper body strength and the bow and whatnot, but shooting should be pretty even, right? And why do the beach volley ball girls wear bikinis and the boys wear shorts and tshirts?

No official results yet, and my garmin seems to think I went over 3000 yards (what?! not a chance) so I went with the standard calculation of 1.2 miles to yards. Really need to get a better OWS app for my watch. Preliminary results have posted, though, so I put together a race report. More to come on the separate blog with pictures and such, so I'll update when I have that.
Takeaways...OWS is a blast, I love to swim, and the Potomac turned my kit brown and made me stink so bad we had to drive home with the windows open. Now: nap and nachos.

After a week of being unwell, sitting on the saddle was particularly painful. Really need to get the bladder/urethra situation figured out soon; I can't imagine spending a lot of time riding with this kind of discomfort. At any rate, got it done.
Nutrition: skratch orange (noty fav flavor) Lara bar carrot cake (nice) and root beer gu (meh). Everything sat on my stomach well as I headed into the run.

Brick Run, keeping HR in Z2 or below. That meant walking all the hills, but that's okay. My legs woke up after about 3/4 of a mile, and it was my breathing/HR that kept my pace down, not my legs. A little cranky in my feet, but nothing unusual.

Another lazy start to the morning. This week started one with me feeling really bad, but now I'm just kind of taking any excuse to sleep in. Ah well, looks like I'm riding tonight. Then a nice brick Saturday, and then HarborFest on Sunday. Should be an action packed couple of days.
Still waiting for results from the specialist for my grandma.
