My aunt and uncle are in town this week.  They are staying with my parents.  My aunt has several appearances that will wind up her book tour (a signing and luncheon in Chapel Hill, a signing in Raleigh and then a demo in Chapel Hill on Friday).  My aunt and uncle met each other in New York when they both worked for the Times but my uncle is originally from Rock Hill, SC.  Walter had to make an unexpected trip to Rock Hill but he and my dad were planning to go to an exhibit at the museum today.  I told my dad that I would go with him since Walter could not make it and my dad had been looking forward to it.  That's a long winded way of saying that I took the day off work.  

I had an optional swim on the schedule so my initial plan was to go to masters in the morning, hang around and then go to the exhibit with my dad this afternoon and then run tonight.  Cold rain was in the forecast for tonight, though, so I scrapped that plan and went to masters, come home and went running (beat the rain) and now I have the rest of the day for lounging and the museum.

 Dad driving a Porsche -- or something like that!

Yoga for Athletes


I may go to yoga tonight.  Or maybe not.  We'll see!


Hauled myself back to the dentist this afternoon.  Yup, gonna replace the damaged crown.  That was the whole appointment.  Another visit next Wednesday to yank off the damaged crown, make impressions, put on a temporary crown and then another visit a week or so later to put in the new "permanent" crown. 

I asked, "Are you sure that what's left won't come off?"

They assured me that it would be fine.  Nothing to worry about.

"Is there anything that I shouldn't eat?"

The list a number of things -- apples, corn on the cob, etc.  The usual suspects.  Then they suggest that I should cut up sandwiches before eating them.  This is after suggesting that it is no big deal, no inconvenience whatsoever, and that the tooth will be just fine.  ARG!  (Let's not forget that I did not break the crown, they did!)

Olive Chapel-Kelly Road

Nice morning run. Brisk with cold wind from the north (realfeel of 20). I was surprisingly comfortable in running tights, long sleeved tee and a vest. I did wear my gloves the whole time which is unusual for me.


On Saturday I had NPR on while I was doing errands.  I heard my aunt.  What?!  It was a promo for Sunday's All Things Considered -- tune in an hear Patricia Wells talk about Thanksgiving.

I got home in time to hear Aunt Patty's piece on NPR. I have to tell you it was weird hearing her talk about Thanksgiving on the radio, especially since she spends it in Raleigh most years!

Ten-Ten

Nice ride on the tri bike. I got it back from the shop and apparently it needed numerous adjustments but no major damage was done. The wheels need to be trued, the brakes adjusted, the hub adjusted, etc. It seems OK. Fingers crossed!

Note to self: New design/yellow on bottom CBC jersey is not a good selection for brick workouts. I spent a lot of the time yanking it down!

I've also been meaning to say that I like the Orca shorts. The fabric is really nice. I haven't worn them for anything that long on the bike yet but they have been comfy for the rides that I've used them on and they are comfy to run in as well.

Afternoon walk with Emma


I took the day off from work today.  I have a massage schedule late this morning and I plan to take Emma out for a walk this afternoon.  I have a few errands to run as well.  I enjoyed sleeping in this morning!
