White Oak Creek greenway

Kevin and I went to Bond Park and did an easy spin on the White Oak Creek greenway. What a great way to enjoy the beautiful day!

Pleasant Sunday morning run. Very little traffic which meant a lot more stopping than at some times of day.

Open water swim at Ebenezer Church. I did just over four lengths. The boating was getting busy so there was a lot of wake from them.

The Army Corps of Engineers lists Lake Jordan at 75 degrees. I wore my sleeveless wetsuit just to practice in it a bit. It'll need to be put away soon.

Last night I updated the firmware on my watch. This morning, I ran the first five minutes or so and looked at my watch. No heart rate. Hmm. I kept on running and occasionally cursing the firmware update. I finished my run, saved it and the watch beeped. HRM detected. Now I'm think that I started it when it was going into power save (she didn't really mean that she was going running *now*) mode. Oh well.

I saw this when I was riding yesterday and passed it again when I was heading out to the lake this morning.

Fun ride! The temps were super pleasant (60s with low humidity) and there was very little wind. Good times!

On Thursday I was all like "tri bikes suck" and today I was all "I love you tri bike!!!"

Today we worked on my kicking. Single leg kick during the drill section and again during the first round of the main set in form focus. Then we experimented with no/minimal kicking. Manuel suggest that we try minimal kicking for a while and then add it back. He feels like I was natually kicking so much that it was messing up other things. Then we'll work on coordinating my kicking with my stroke so that I actually work as one whole unit.

First ride on the tri bike since B2B. My legs were all like, "those are not the bike riding muscles."

I had a dentist appointment scheduled right after masters.  I was a little bit concerned about getting from masters to the dentist and having time to eat something (anything!) between the two.  I rushed to my car after swimming and discovered that there was a message on my phone from the dentist's office.  Dr. Foy has a sick child and needs to reschedule.  So...  rescheduled for next Friday.

OMV - Long and Straight (mostly)

Ended up losing Tom (we waited for him once and then he turned around early), then a guy I don't know (soft pedaled for him but shortly after that he turned around early), then Mike K. (didn't want to pull so turned around early?! does this even make sense?) and then it was me an the new guy who said that he had no idea where he was. I ended up hauling him around the county. I asked if he'd be back next week and he said, "I can only come every other week but I'll be there." I guess it wasn't too awful for him then!

Nice lunchtime run through campus along Rocky Branch greenway and then cutting up Pullen before looping around the rose garden and Meredith. It would sure be nice is someone (NCSU? City of Raleigh?) took it upon themselves to add the missing piece of sidewalk on Pullen.

(I emailed the City of Raleigh pedestrian coordinator, the Raleigh Parks Department and the NCSU Facilities department with expressing how awesome it would be if this sidewalk were completed.)
