Decided to race today at the Run for the Hungry downtown. I am glad I did but also wish I didn't. I ran a sub 40 (woo hoo), placed 5th in my age group and 22nd overall, but starting around mile 4, Mr. Shin Splint came back. Stupid me.

It was pleasantly warm when I started out. Once I dropped down the Three Witches into Fairbanks Ranch, I bet you the temp dropped down to below 40! My body hurt it was so cold. That was the low point of the ride (both temp and elevation) so the rest of the way back was spent climbing some hills, some steep, some long, some long and steep. This is a tough 18 mile loop. Not technical but lots of good climbs. There is an 18-20% grade at one spot. Yikes!

Shin (left leg) feels better today but don't want to risk it. Off again. Luckily it was only a 4 mile easy run. I should not loose too much by skipping this.
Took off to rest shin splints today. Hoping for the best.

I went wandering off the roads this morning. I found a pond with a little water fall ... and that is about it. I think I ran up a couple hills that were maybe walls. They were rather steep. Shin splints today. NO FUN! I have never had these before. Now I know why people complain about them. Gross. Lots on uneven paths probably contributed to that.
