New trainer tire makes my trainer even harder... which is good

Amazing. No soreness at all.  I honestly feel great and I feel like I could put in the same effort on a sprint today as I did yesterday.  My plan was to do a ride on the trainer for :30 to flush out my legs and stretch, but I couldn't let my surprisingly live legs go to waste.

I'm going to take most of this week totally off.  Maybe a longish run this weekend.  I deserve the time off and so too does my knees, legs, ankles, feet and hips, and probably most importantly, my shoulder.  

 

I am going to devote this new tri-free time to cleaning and tuning all of my bike (even the mtb), planning my off season and planning my races for next year.  I am also going to begin working on my year in review post which might be quite lengthy.

WEIGHT CONTROL

A funny thing happened to me yesterday and this morning.  But first, I have to backtrack.  Last winter/off-season, my goal was to maintain a weight under 202 lbs.  Knowing I could get down to 195-197 in a week of training and dieting.  This year, my goal is to remain at 197 throughout the off-season and winter, knowing I could get down to 192 in about 2-3 weeks with training and dieting (which is what I weighed for IMLP).

Yesterday morning, I got on the scale and I was 199.8!!!!  I almost freaked out, okay, I did freak out.  I ran into the bedroom, asked my wife if I looked fat, I tried on my "skinny pants" (yeah, I have a pair).  I literally went crazy.  I even planned on getting up early 2 days after an HIM to get in a 1 hour ride just to get some sort of a calorie burn in.

But here's the key piece to all of this.  I added a bunch of table salt to the five gatorades that I drank during the Half IronMan.

This morning... I weighed 196.2... that's more like it.  I did some research this morning and learned that taking in that much extra saltcauses you to retain ALOT of fluids at a cellular level and it takes up to a couple of days for it to clear from your system. 

In the end, I didn't get up early this morning.  I turned off my alarm, put my head back down and overslept.  I think that is the best thing for me right now as I have a sprint this weekend.  I will probably swim this evening and yes, I'll have a SMALL cup of ice cream tonight.
