mscotthall's Training Log

Really easy, relaxed ride. I had to get in one more ride outside on this bike since it was repaired. There's no way I was going to find out there was something wrong on the bike course at LP. Resting the rest of the day today. Easy, relaxed short swim tomorrow and possibly a day off on Wednesday.
In the past, I have done these runs in the very early mornings... like, 4am. Today I decided to wait until it got much warmer out, and in the open areas, it was a scorcher, and humid. I also decided that I shouldn't run an easy 1-1.5 miles on flat roads to get to hills. Today, I drove to the hills and ran the hilliest roads I can find north of 25a and to the sound. Al in all, the combination of the weather and the terrain made this a very tough run.
Easy ows tomorrow, first swim in the wetsuit since the bike accident. I may do an easy ride in the mid-afternoon also, before I say goodbye to my bike Tuesday night.
My first swim since the bike accident. I'm not gonna lie and say it wasn't difficult, but I made it through the swim by kicking more, going slowly and switching to breast stroke frequently. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this effort today. Now the big test will be how my shoulder responds to recovering from this swim. Another big test will be on Monday morning when I swim in the wetsuit for the first time since the accident. I'm gonna shoot for a mile swim that morning and it may be the last time I swim before the IM. Bobby is going to meet me there to swim with me and make sure I don't drown. He's a true friend.
For my last long brick, I decided to challenge myself by doing, literally, every single hill I could ride to within a 10 mile radius of my house.
Kept it really easy on the run. Stayed well within my comfort zone and just tried to focus on form and breathing well.
- Went to see Kev last night at his house. It's truly a miracle. He is up, walking around and he even said that if it weren't for the surgery (he had a defibulator installed in his chest) he thinks he'd be able to do the IM in 10 days. He's still going to LP which will be awesome.
- My shoulder is improving. I am icing it religiously 3-4 time a day for 20 minutes at a time. I am going to try to give swimming a shot tomorrow morning.
- I need to bring my bike to the shop STAT. It turns out that there is some damage to it from the accident. I think I may have bent one of my aero bars. I'm gonna have to have them take a look at it and repair anything that needs to be.
