Mountain bike on the path. Very scenic and nice. Weather here is awesome.

Drew (drewb8) came with so I could admire his Guru in action... *sigh* I am envious of that bike.

Another swim this morning. The water is cold, but nothing to get too excited about. Remember that one chick who swam to Antarctica? Well, she didn't even wear a wetsuit.

It's not that cold.

Swam one loop. Didn't mean to, but once I got started I figured why not?

Feeling fast in the water. No one around, no one to get in my way... no one to draft off of either...

To the swim start and back. To the coffee shop and back. To the running store and back. To the expo and back. To and fro, back and forth.

Need to do a mountain bike ride at some point today. That was supposed to happen yesterday. Limited internet + my teeny tiny overstimulated brain = missed and jumbled workouts this week. I **AM** on vacation, you know. :)

HMFSB that water is cold.

Sleeveless wetsuit. No booties. No cute little neoprene cap. Hard core.

Decided I'd had enough and got out and was immediately dizzy. Strange.

Back and forth and back and forth and back and forth.

We made it! Sitting here in an internet cafe sharing a seat with COgirl. Laughing Met MacDaddy, Gearwhore, and himself, too.

I am finished working out for the day, now...nothing but free time... so Jess and I are going to do a bunch of nothing for a while after we pick up our bikes and Chris' packet. And maybe  definitely spend some money at the expo.

6:47 PM: Hanging out at the BT house, having a glass of wine and watching Chris make us dinner. We are having the super secret salmon recipe. Yummmmolicious.

Couer D'Alene is cool. Everyone is here:

  • Shannon (swgtri)
  • Dan (danintx)
  • Dan (Crazypop) He really is crazy... he just bought a bike today, for SUNDAY'S race!
  • Chris (coredump)
  • Me (da Whizzzzzzzzzzzzzz)
  • Jess (TTMA)
  • Jeff (Q)
  • Luis (velasqu7)
  • and Drew (drewb8) is still on his way.

We've had a couple of people drop out (Stacie... *sniff*) We are taking lots of photos for her.

Tomorrow, we might go back to the expo... and buy more stuff....

Inconsistent today. Meh.

6:33 AM: I am trying very hard to get motivated to run this morning. I feel very dehydrated and tired. Drinking some water first. We'll see how it goes.

In the photo flipper today:

Date = 11/9/1991. This was a college football game. We road tripped to Purdue with our football block with Phi Delts. The top row consists of Amy, me and Whitney. Pretty standard lineup in any party situation...

What you can't see here is my thigh to ankle knee immobilizer. This was less than a month after the original injury that whacked my L knee... That I'm still dealing with today, some 16+ years later... That, of course, happened at a sorority barn dance.

7:56 PM Was supposed to swim tonight, but that's not going to happen. It took me almost an hour and a half to get home from work... and I stayed late on top of that to tie up some loose ends... now I'm frantically putting the final touches on packing and hoping to GTFO of here post haste!

  • Chiropractic

Chiropractic = ART.
Both knees felt pretty good when I woke up this morning. Could it be because I haven't run since Thursday!?

Stretching, bending, pulling and pleading with the knees.

Recovery Day!
I need it. This is also a recovery week. The only biking I'm doing is Mt biking in CdA. Minimal running... a couple of swims... I can't wait! Wednesday will be a long travel day, though...

T-6 days and counting to CdA... EEEEEEEKKKK! I need to finish packing!

And in the photo flipper today:

That would be my me (in the middle) and my friends Nora and Lynn. The date was late August 1999. We were at a Company conference downtown and we got out early and went to North Ave. beach.

  • 1h 38m 14s
  • 23.83 miles
  • 14.56 Mi/hr

My enthusiasm for this was waning within the first 20 minutes or so. I just could NOT get comfortable on the saddle. My crotch protested the whole time.

Bike shoe was cutting into my ankle, knees were creaky, it was HUMID AND *WINDY*... and I didn't feel like trying very hard.

Forced myself to go 1 hour out into the wind... with a brief detour off to the North... turned around at the hour mark and got back home in 38 minutes. Uhm, yeah.

Averaged something like 12 MPH into the wind and 22 MPH with the wind at my back. All in ZONE 1.

Well glory be! I get to hop right back on my bike and ride it some more today. I can barely contain myself. Wink

Yesterday's ride featured 7,591.5 ft of climbing. Jam packed into 69ish miles. (Which, BTW is CLEARLY LONGER than a metric century) The route was a bit different that last year, and I'd venture to say it was harder. The fact that we arrived late-ish and ended up doing much of the route by ourselves made the whole experience hilly windy and lonely! I should never be in charge of logistics and timing. I will invariably be late. Chris knows this already but he wasn't there to ensure we got our asses out the door on time. At least Kelly had a good method for remembering the keys, iPass and bottles.

Some photos are up... HERE

Some interesting quotes from the weekend:

  • "I don't need to know your name. I just want to look at you and touch you..."
  • "I'm good and irritated"
  • "I'm cranky. Don't let me throw my phone. I like my phone!"
  • "Shunnna... shu shu shu shu Shunnna"
  • "Oh, she's older than I thought she'd be... and whiter, too."
  • "That's NOT a rest stop. It's a private thing for Erik's bike shop"
Good times.
A shout out to our girl Stacie (luv2ride)
