rest day! race tomorrow! latest news: looks like it will not be raining tomorrow morning (yay!) But, the water temp is expected to be 67. Brrrrrr! At least that's above 65 and anyhow it's too late for me to get a wetsuit now! Looks like Richard's wave starts first, at 9:00 am, and my wave starts at 9:06 am. I don't think I can make up 6 minutes on a 750 m swim, so we probably won't see each other on the course.

Bike

T1 to bike: 2:06
put bike in car:2:12

Run
  • 21m 09s
  • 2.00 miles

hm. i still don't believe this number/distance.
7:05 to track
5:43 for 1/2 mile on track
8:21 home from track.
got a little distracted there at the end. it's more uphill too.

again, legs felt strong. lungs were working hard. and legs are itchy, thanks to the waxing.

short brick today. plus i'm getting my legs waxed. :) hope it's not too close to the race!

Rest day. Had a triathlon stress dream: dreamt that I was running to T1 to get my bike and a bunch of people (photographers) were slowly wandering in my way. Then I got to the transition area, and my bike wasn't there! I realized that I had left it on top of my car, with all my other gear in the car. Blech. At least *that* won't happen at the race. I may freeze or pull a muscle or get a flat, but I *will* have my transition area set up before the race.

Bike
  • 29m 06s
  • 8.09 miles
  • 16.68 Mi/hr

well at least i'm consistent on my pace over the same ground now. the bugs were awful, kept getting in my eyes!! should have gone earlier in the day.

Swim
  • 12m 43s
  • 600.00 yards
  • 02m 07s /100 yards

felt like the shorts create extra drag... bummer...

Bike is on rack and brought to school! yay. Will do swim-bike brick this afternoon. So, the brick: transition time was 2:51, which is pretty darn good for swim-to-bike. of course, i didn't have a very long distance from pool to bike. I am too hungry to add more comments. must go eat.

Swim
  • 40m
  • 1700.00 yards
  • 01m 56s /100 yards

This felt fantastic. I was only going to do 1600, but it felt short and I didn't want to get out of the pool.
800 warm up
200 free, practice sighting
400 free nice and easy
4x50 free sprints, 20 s intervals
100 breast cool-down

I've felt really strong in my recent workouts, which is encouraging. I think I'm quite possibly in the best shape of my adult life. So I'm looking forward to the race this weekend. My only fear is freezing in the swim. They claim water temp is 69-73 deg F, but the air temp hasn't gotten much above 70 this yet. ulp!
