Thanks for the well wishes...did hit a PR on my half mary...1:47:19 (unofficial)...8:11 min/mi, better than planned (8:14s) and didn't wipe myself out before Grandma's marathon (June 17th)...Race report to follow...Good luck to all the Minnesotans (and others) doing the Buffalo Tri tomorrow!  Kick buffalo....

Antsy me...couldn't STAND not doing a workout at lunch.  It was beautiful out (carpe diem), so did a few sets of 1600s--definitely not at 7:05 min/mi target, but just wanted to stay relaxed.  Ended up doing 3.76 miles in 31 min (8:14 min/mi pace), perfect pace memory exercise for tomorrow's half mary...I have a feeling tomorrow will be more a glorified training day, than a full-blown race.  Don't want to wipe myself out before the mary...I hope I don't have these antsy jitters before the marathon, and end up blowing my taper...

Nice, slow, easy run to stay loose for tomorrow's race...2 miles in 17:23 (8:31 min/mi).  Targeting a 1:48 or faster finish for the half mary tomorrow (8:14 min/mi pace)...

4 miles tempo with target 7:45 min/mi pace.  Not close...hit 4.2 miles in 34:27 (8:16 min/mi).  That's scary, because I need to do 8:14s at the half mary this weekend to hit a PR...I think I need a rest day.  I love taper...son has a soccer game tonight.  May ride a few miles, and I'm talking a few...like: 7.

No workout at lunch.  Yet another 'going away' lunch for a co-worker.  Plan on a swim after work to meet at least 2 of the 3 Multi-Sport goals I set for the month...

VERY quick set of speedwork before work this morning (got out of the house late :)).  2 sets--1200m (7:40min/mi pace target) with 400m recovery at marathon pace.  Total 2 miles in 15:34 (7:47 overall pace).  Need to get in 1000 more yds swim for May Multi-Sport Challenge and 3 more miles of running to hit my swim and run goals.  My bike miles goal unfortunately, I will not hit (travel, plant trials, illness...excuses, excuses, excuses...).

Fairly easy ride this morning.  Wasn't hacking up a lung this morning, so I thought I'd get out and ride.  First half felt great, averaging about 19 mph.  'I guess I'm not THAT sick' I was thinking to myself.  At the turnaround I realized why.  Wind from the north, and I was going south.  Headwind on the way back...averaged about 17 mph.  Overall good ride.  Congestion is clearing up slowly.  Green phlegm coming out a little at a time (I know...too much information)...

It's marathon taper!  I needed to choose between a half mary and a sprint tri this Saturday.  The half mary won out.  Should be doing the Burnsville Half as part of my mary taper.

No open water swim with the BT group in the morning. :(  Church picnic in the late morning.  By noon I was feeling a little better.  So played a little volleyball for a half hour and waterfights were rampant to keep cool--94 degrees (does this count as my OWS?).

Happy Memorial Day!  I'm sick...was planning on doing a bike this morning and then an OWS with a few other MN BTers.  Did my long run Saturday (19 miles) sick, and never recovered...the run went VERY well, but I'm paying for it now...I feel like I'm ready for my marathon, but I'll have some minor issues to deal with until then...
