Run for the Booty HM

I'm still slacking on my swim but I'm at least going now. My bike and run training is exactly where I want it to be. It's been a good week and I'm looking forward to my HM tomorrow!

Crappy swim. Felt like a sinking rock. Nothing physically wrong, just couldn't focus. My mind is elsewhere today.

Parked on the corner of Linden / HWY 5 and rode the pinehurst oly route. It was a lot tougher than I thought. Just glad I figured that out before the race. Only drank 1 bottle of water and had 1 bag of chomps. Rode on the 2 big cogs but struggled a good bit more than the Bragg ride. I might hold off a little before I replace the triple.

It was a cold, windy, wet and dark night and I couldn't have felt more alive! I was a little concerned about blisters but I made it over half-way before everything got squishy. I put the garmin in the neoprene pouch so just started running at what I thought was around 9min/miles. I didn't realize I kept getting faster (until the last 2miles) but can't argue with the times. I did learn a few things on my first real wet run:

1. wet clothes chafe (tri-shorts might be better)
2. wet shoes are heavy shoes
3. remember to drink even though you're not thirsty
4. People on their porches no longer wave; they just stare dumbfounded
5. I still prefer miserable weather to a treadmill

Oh My God, I thought I was going to die!
Sarah says she needs to do 15min after the ride. I don't know why but I assumed that meant around 1.5 miles. I was wrong... I was soo wrong. Somehow I managed to stay with her.
