Down to the Chatfield Dam and back. Hot/windy.

Ugh! My quads are a-screamin' and my feet are still sore too. It looks like another zero-run day for Dime. I guess I'll pop a ride and maybe a swim if I have time. I don't like not running. That trail race cooked me.

RACE REPORT IS UP! I'm very sore after yesterday's pounding!I haven't felt this worked after a race in a long time. June was awesome: 7 races completed - most ever in a month for me and some great results. Yesterdays 1st place in AG at the USATF Trail Running Championships was just icing on the cake. June: 7 races 1x 1st place overall 4x 1st in AG 1x 2nd in AG 1x 3rd in AG 1x 8th in AG 6/7x top ten overall finish And yesterday's finale: USATF 12K (40-44 AG) champion.

USATF 12K Trail Running Championships in Steamboat, CO.

I wanted to do a 10 mile trail race in Breckenridge, but I had the feeling that it was canceled. So I decided to drive out to Steamboat and participate in this intimidating race! So many great athletes... I don't think I saw any recreational runners. This was a lean and mean field of fired up runners.

My expectations were pretty low and I entered in the open field instead of the elite field and I should have taken the step up since money was given to the top 7 finishers and my 13th overall was not that far off. Still I won a fee pair of Vasque shoes!

The course was brutal. Three 4.2 km loops with 800 feet of climbing per loop. The first loop starts out with a 200 meter sprint and then a 400 foot climb in about 1/4 mile @ a 35% grade (straight up the ski hill). I was right behind Last year's champion, Ricky Gates and the legendary, Bernie Boettcher and when Bernie walked, I walked. Actually I was passing people with my walk who looked to be running.

I'll leave the rest of the details for my race report!

Slow run with my group. I'm a hurting unit from last nights bike crash. My knee is really banged up and I suffered a hip pointer (with swelling) and road rash to my elbow. My whole left side is in pain. I better take a double dose of bee pollen so that I can heel up in time for tomorrows race!

A few AM urban assault miles, breakfast then to the office... I'll get a few more UA miles and then maybe a PM run and that's it for today.

Awe f#CK...

I was riding my bike in the alley tonight and it was DARK. I hit a pothole and went over the handle bars. my right knee and elbow are f#cked... but nothing a PBR won't fix. No, I was not drinking - I am now though...

Cool thing about a fixed gear, not much damage. No break levers to mash... just body parts!

Just a simple thought for today: Has anyone yet seen a McCain bumper sticker? I generally see lots of OBAMA stickers and yard signs, but have yet to see a McCain anything. Well, until just a moment ago. Finally it happened - on the back of a gas guzzling black Sub-urban - I saw a JM sticker. Weird. Once in a while I still see Bush/Cheney stickers, but only near a mega-church or a Wall-Mart. Most sensible people have scraped the evidence of their 8 years of stupidity off of their cars. Who could blame them now for not putting a McSame sticker on. Perhaps they know the truth and are embarrassed. Perhaps they are tired of this: "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." - GWB Only 208 more Bush days left.
