Okay check out THAT pace! For me that's awesome! Probably because I ran TO an appointment with a former student who now works for Tulalip Data Services. (I helped him get the job, and he was so nice saying I'm the 'best teacher ever' when he introduced me around.) Then on the way home I was just starving and knew tacos were waiting for me. If only those tacos had come with a side of Antonio Banderas, my life would have been complete. ;)

Wheee! What a gorgeous day for a ride! We decided to do the Lake Washington Loop again. It was hillier than I remember, and Roy "wrote my name on his hand" a number of times. (It's our joke for when we're play-mad at each other. We 'write it down' so we'll remember ala Rainman.) I think because last week I was so intent on finding my way, I didn't really note the hills. Anyhow, he was on his K2 bike. I knew it was going to be a mistake to get him a commuter bike because it is just not possible for me to keep back with him. So I'd ride ahead and wait at the next turn, and he'd catch up. He was usually 2-3 minutes behind me. I really didn't mind that much, only it would be nice to ride together. I think he got mad at me at one point. I said we'd eat in Renton but I didn't see anywhere to stop (didn't realize there are some new restaurants by Frys) so he was SO disappointed when I just kept going. Then we got to the Seward Park turn and decided it would make more sense to keep going on Rainier Ave S until we found food. So I just jet on past McDonalds and Taco Bell and he was ready to throttle me, but I was thinking Subway. Better communication next time, I think.

I actually felt really good the entire time. Sure, I was tired at the end, but not too bad. All told we were on the road over 5 hours with stops and lunch and bathroom breaks. I'd prefer not to stop for lunch, myself.

I felt like I fueled well and drank well, until I forgot my water on the run. Drank two bottles of water (24 oz each), and had 4 Fig Newtons, one pumpkin bar (I made them up myself last night), and 11 pb filled pretzels. I also had Clif Shots, but since we stopped for Subway didn't use those. One thing I did forget, sunscreen! Oops!

Brick run...actually felt really good after the bike ride, and was amazed to do a 9:32 on my first mile. (I had the Garmin on for a walk to and from the restroom so that dinged my time.)

I am sad today about two students. I hoped my run would take my mind off of it. It didn't.

I'm also very very tired and hungry all the time. Plan for tomorrow was 50 mile bike ride. Now it's play it by ear to see what happens. We'll do it tomorrow or Sunday.

I'm sure after a good night's sleep I'll feel better tomorrow.

Did not get in until 11:30 last night so no swim for me today. I feel like such a bad, bad, triathlete.

Today was a rest day so I only ran 3 miles. I'm sorry. I couldn't help it! I got to the Greenlake area to meet Beth at Title Nine Sports. I had 30 minutes. The sun was out. The lake was beautiful. I just HAPPENED to have my running gear. What's a girl to do?

We have set up a training program for women who want to run their first 5k. (Beth set it up. I'm assisting as the "fast" coach.) It's awesome. We had our first meeting tonight. Then starting next Tuesday we'll meet every Tuesday and take them from nothing to something! I'm very excited about it, and Beth and I work well together. I even let HER talk sometimes! LOL!

Why can't I speed up on long runs? ARGH!

Ran home from work today. I had hoped it would be a nice run, but the weather is so psychotic right now! It's sunny but windy, then it rains, then it stops, then it's sunny, then it's dark and cloudy. ARGH! I bonked for the first time in a long time at about mile 10. I was suddenly getting woozy and confused, too hot. I took off my jacket, thinking it was just that. Then I realized it wasn't getting better so I walked and ate some Clif Blocks. What a difference! Within a mile I was fine, so I did lose a bit of time doing that. I think afternoon runs are harder to fuel for than morning runs. Not sure why that is, but probably because I've already been active during the day and I generally eat most of my calories at night. I did eat a bigger lunch than normal, but I think I should go for more pasta and not "meat and potatoes." (It was an icky frozen meal.)

Ah well! I'm home now and I did not die! That's always a good thing...oh, and one more day without Whore!

  • Finished a 15 mile run before 6 p.m. Now if the man would just get home and FEED ME!

  • Saw a beautiful heron take off as I ran over the Snohomish River (on the bridge...haven't perfected walking on water yet). He was gorgeous. I just stopped and stared.
  • No one called me a whore today!

Really had a LOT of headwind today on this ride, and I can see it in my pace! When I started it was sunny. I had decided to go ahead with three layers and my sleeves (running top, vest, and my bright yellow thingy). I figured I'd go to Great Harvest (Tuesday is low-carb day, and they have a low-carb cheddar garlic bread that is to DIE for and only 70 calories a slice) and if I was too warm, I'd strip a layer. Nope! It was sunny, but almost as soon as I got on the interurban trail the freezing rain started. I passed under the storm (fortunately it was going South and I was going North) in about 20 minutes and then the winds came! BRRRRRR!!!

Overall a nice ride, though. I'm considering starting to bike to and from at least once a week for the rest of the year. There's only 7 weeks of school left! (THERE'S ONLY SEVEN WEEKS OF SCHOOL LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Didn't break any land speed records, but oh well. It was a chilly, but pretty morning. I'm amazed at how early it is getting light out! Soon I will have no excuse to not ride my bike to work! I do enjoy the early morning runs. The world looks so different. I just wish there wasn't so much traffic. I want to be alone in my head and sometimes it feels like I'm being invaded.

Bad pain in my side where my mesh is attached. I'll be glad when this is entirely healed.

Riding my bike home after work today. Let's hope this weather holds out. But if it doesn't, oh well. I can manage. It certainly can't be worse than a few weeks ago!

  1. Mt. Pilchuck with an incredible STORM over it. It looked amazing.
  2. Kitty ran across my path. Not black. No worries.
  3. At a stop light a guy in a truck next to me gave me a big smile and said, "HI! How are you today?" Nice weather makes people friendly. I like that.
  4. Another day of not being called a whore!
  5. THERE ARE ONLY SEVEN WEEKS OF SCHOOL LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
