Ran with Linda at lunch. We had some HELLACIOUS headwinds on the first two miles! In fact, I know we were working really hard and it felt WAY faster.

Met with Sheba, who is probably going to be taking my running class. Coached her a bit and we talked each others ears off! LOL! Run/walk combination.

Strength training in the studio in the am. Don't feel like putting in what I did. Suffice to say it was 45 minutes and my arms hurt.

Got up this morning to go running with “the girls” but they weren’t there. I decided to head back home (the Y is only a mile away) and run from home alone in the dark (sniff). No, I actually like running alone in the mornings…just me and my podcasts. I wear a reflective vest and a lighted hat, so I’m pretty good. Plus I run where there is lots of traffic, so I feel safe. Of course I passed the girls on the run, so they must run earlier now. I’ll have to find out.

Run felt pretty good. It was COLD this morning…as in needed gloves cold! Brr! This afternoon I’m heading to the fair to see a friend’s daughter show her horse. I’ve already journaled my fair scone and plan a light lunch since we’ll be at the mercy of fair food…although actually things are now closer to the fair, so we might sneak off and eat off site. I should run home and grab my bikes just for that purpose. Roy is taking the bus to join me because tonight is the Weird Al concert. Hey! I like Weird Al!!

Walked the first mile or so dragging stuff to and from the park, but ran the rest with halfway decent times. Missed doing the triathlon today, but oh well.

Roy did go out and find a van for us to get us through a few years or so. Already people are criticizing. Can I just say STFU? The way we do things is the way we do things! Options were to fix the car, get an interim car and wait until next year or so to get a new car, or get a new car. Not in the financial position right now for a new car, so interim it is. But "friends" are acting like we're so stupid. I hate that. Intelligent woman here, thank you!

It's being given a good evaluation tomorrow so I can't do my trail run, and then emissions on Monday while we can still take it back if need be. Nice thing is, it'll be paid off in a few months.

It isn't my dream vehicle, but oh well. I don't think I have a dream vehicle other than one that gets me where I want to go.

  • RACE DAY: Lake Sammamish Triathlon

  • 7.11 miles

You ever have one of those days where you just don't want to run? I think I'm so anxious about the car thing that I'm frustrated with having other focii. So I decide I'll go out without a plan. I grabbed Dash and we headed out in the opposite direction I usually go. I didn't turn at the place I usually turn but instead kept going up the hill and immediately found a little garden I've never seen. I ran more hills more hills and found that my soreness from yesterday's swim was gone. I found a park I haven't been to in ages, so we ran down there and what did we find, a few trails. So we started down the trails and I let Dash off leash and we were having a blast! He was "puppy running" (where the hind end is going so fast it doesn't quite keep up with the front end) and turning around every few 100 feet to look at me with a big grin. Mud from head to tail! We crossed a few little streams and slogged through some mud and listened to some frogs and it reminded me how much i LOVE trail running! It also convinced me I have to get Dash out there on the trails. It's slow, but it's just so peaceful (although a blackberry did grab my hat and hair and I was completely stuck for a few minutes). Unfortunately it was a very short trail but it was nice, nevertheless.

We ran home and he was about done at 6.5 miles, so the last bit was pretty slow. He's so cute, though. When we get to our drive I let him off leash. He runs to the porch and turns around for his "hugs". When I started running with him I always sat for a few minutes on the porch and gave him big hugs and head kisses and told him what a good boy he is for running with me. Now he won't go in until he gets that!

He's a good dog and it turned out to be a great run...a slow run (the trails lined with nettles and the hills contributed greatly) but a great run.
