Sloppy swim. Lane ropes were loose so it was like one big open water swim. Water was freezing and I never warmed up. Not once! Brrrrrr.

So speaking of fires...
I was on the phone with Tom last night and all of the sudden he said "UUHHH there's a FIRE in that garage - like up the walls. I'm going to hang up and call 9-1-1!" I guess his neighbor five doors down had a garage fire and DIDN'T KNOW. She was in the basement doing laundry. So Tom was the one who called it in and helped the lady and her cat outside. And then it threatened the house next door so he helped an elderly blind lady out of that house, too. He even made the 10 o'clock newscast! Not by name, but they mentioned that the man who called in the fire also helped the lady out of her house. He said it took about 60 seconds for the entire garage to be destroyed, and another few minutes for about half the house. Scary, crazy, and thank GAWD for people like Tom!

WOW, what a beautiful evening to ride! 70 degrees, no wind, no angry drivers... just me and my Cervelo. I felt incredible and REALLY enjoyed this. Very smooth. Very strong.

Why I love Kansas rides...

You get to see cool stuffz! I had stopped just after my turnaround to take a picture of this controlled burn from a little ways away. Then my chain dropped, and as I was fiddling with it, the blaze moved RIGHT in front of me! The farmers were just in front of the fire as it moved north and actually asked if I had dropped my chain, I thought that was funny. I told them yes I'd dropped my chain and was fine. I just couldn't believe the fire was almost right up to the road! Pretty cool.

Update: Apparently there were more than 200 burn permits issued between two counties for tonight. The whole city smells like a bonfire.

OK so I checked out my friends Facebook to see that she only had the baby 2 weeks ago. I don't feel nearly as bad now, but still. I'm an asshole.

Took the legs a little bit to loosen up. Nice weather. I was a little warm in pants and long sleeves.

Saw an old college girlfriend walking her dog... I knew she was preggo so as I ran by I said hello and then said "getting big!" she said "me?!" and I nodded and kept going. A few minutes later it hit me. OMG. SHE ALREADY HAD THE BABY! Guess she still has some baby bump going on cause I looked at it twice before I said it. Ooooops. OMG. I felt terrible the whole rest of the way home. That was pretty bad. I'm debating sending her a facebook message and apologizing. Jeeeez I suck.
