Super brisk walk with Ellie Mae. Cold out, and I was still in my gym shorts.

Finally home and don't have another trip until December! I got out of my November San Diego work trip thank goodness. Vegas with Christina was fun. Her and her boyfriend had just broken up, so she was a little sad, but we had a great time. Mostly just lounging by the pool and eating. The Lady Gaga concert was something I'll never forget. TEARS streaming down my face. If you ever have the chance to see her, please do.

We ended up spending a lot, which I felt weird about because I know Christina is struggling with money. But I was never the one to suggest things, it was always her, so I guess it just comes down to choices she makes. I don't ask a lot about finances, because I think it's too personal, but I know she came out of her divorce with a ton of debt (her ex-husband was secretly embezzling money and doing all kinds of illegal stuff that she's now tied to financially - he's currently disappeared and "on the run" - I mean!!!!), school loan debt and she now struggles hard with medical out-of-pocket that piles up in January/February that she has to make payments on for the rest of the year. And now the IRS is coming after her for money she took our of her 401K for her then-husband who also claimed it on HIS taxes a few years ago. Ugh.

Anyway, in addition to staying at a nice hotel and paying $$ for Lady Gaga tickets, we sipped on a lot of $20 drinks poolside, got fancy champagne cocktails at the Chandelier Bar and went to the spa. I only do spa stuff like once every 5 years, but she insisted on getting a few services for herself so I did too (it was LOVELY). And she picked the restaurant we ate at the last night where we each spent $100+ without batting an eye. So all that to say, it was a great time, but I'm going to ask her to Venmo me a bunch of money that I'm not sure she has.

10 p.m. run. Ran out of time to do things today between chaotic work, laundry, packing and a trip to the mall.

Mall walking + Ellie Mae

Today is the hottest mess of hot messes at work. Trying to pull together all of the post-event communications and 90% of people I'm working with are either out of the office (recovering from the event or on Fall Break) or not responding. Luckily my (new) boss is around and being super helpful. At least I'm at home so I can run the laundry and turn my luggage. Going back to Vegas tomorrow for Lady Gaga.

Overall thoughts on the week: I'm getting more excited about my new role. I told a buddy the other day that at first I was a little down after accepting the position because I LOVED my old role - mostly because it was EASY for me. And this new role is a wild card. I know it's going to be more challenging, especially at the beginning, and I don't know if it will ever be easy. But this week, I really feel like I nailed everything and the execs were super happy. It was a good jump off.

Other thoughts as I went through the week and got to see my old buddies from Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas... This company is a special place. People are genuine and real and care about each other. I can't tell you how many times throughout the week that I saw someone from home and they lit up, ran over to me and gave me the biggest bear hug. It made me feel so special and so missed. And I reflected a lot on my old team and how much I miss them. I resolved, again, that my biggest lifetime professional goal is to build a team like the one I was on before I moved to Atlanta. I knew it the day I accepted my new role, and am reminded of it often... I'll never find another team like that again.

HOME. After landing at 5:30 and not getting home until 7:30. Rookie move to schedule a flight landing in Atlanta rush hour. My poor Lyft driver.
Dark and 57 degrees. Amazing.
