2.5 mile warm up (23:30).

5k race - 18:26 (5:57 pace) - 23rd overall, 3rd in 30 - 39 AG (really 5th, but two of the top 5 winners were in the AG also, so don't "count" in the AG awards). Avg. and max. HR were for the race. Amazed to have broken 200, based on the last few outings over this year I was thinking it would be in the max range of 197 or so.

Race day.  Going out to have a good time and see what sort of numbers I can put up.  Happy Memorial Day to everyone.  Remember what this day really means ......

Rest day for sure today.  Going to watch Pirates as a matinee and get something to eat with Mir.

Two of the three kids are really pretty sick and I have a head cold.  So tomorrow's race should be an interesting session in phlegm! Tongue out

We have a lot to do today around the house and yard as well as doing some garden shopping stuff for Mir.  Planning on a rest day for sure tomorrow, but if I can sneak out for a ride today it would be nice.  But having two rest days may get me back in the swing too.

Just wanted to get some yards in without overstressing the body. The boys all have colds, so need to make sure I don't get it.

General Aerobic + Speed

Out and back to Rt. 29 along 216 with 6 x 100 strides mixed in. Legs felt "alien" - best word I can use to expain it. Felt strange to try and pick up the pace/cadence on the strides. Legs were dead and it seemed like I had no form or anything and that running was something I just learned how to do (only way I can describe it).

Hard but solid workout. Didn't feel as tired as Monday, so maybe things are getting back to normal.

Out and back to Triadelphia circle. Tried to go easy, but coming back was into the wind, so it was a bit harder. Max. HR was blasting down the road to get to the neighborhood (I always like to hammer the 53/11 and get over 40 mph on that part).

Recovery

Crappy run again. I think I'm fatigued from all the effort of earlier in the year. Just totally not feeling it right now in any of the disciplines. After my 5k next week I may take the rest of the week off from excercise to try and get "it" back ........

Trying to figure out my sweat rate as well to see just what I need for my longer events.  Today's ride was the first crack at it .......

Before weight - 177.6.  After weight - 176.0.  Drank 18 oz. of water and had two Gu's in that period (1.1 oz. each) for a total of 20.2 oz. consumed over the 1:11:28 time period.

Using the calculator at Triharder.com that comes out to a 38 oz./hr. rate.  Seems kinda high to me ....... but we'll keep trying it out to see what sort of averages I get.  Definitely means my one bottle an hour ain't gonna cut it!!
