First long run in a while - a "test" to see how ready I am to start on a marathon program. Run felt really good, a few aches and pains, (left quad, mostly), but overall everything felt really good.
First three miles at 8 minutes, 45 seconds per mile. 9.5 min/mile pace overall, last mile at 10'05". Need to work on that "negative split" concept....
Paradise Adventure Race today - started out 9th at the end of the run, lost about 4 spots on the bike (my damned seat post came loose and I had to stop and re-adjust it), then started off with the kayak - and I could not keep that stupid thing straight. My kayak (new to me) is a whitewater type, and I apparently did not have the necessary skill level to keep it straight. Ending up losing another 4 places on the kayak, ended up around 17th overall (6/7 in my age group). Kayak time was 22'42", about 10 minutes slower than the fast guys.
