So I figured what the hell, instead of beating myself up about not training in the morning, I would just get up and do it. Rewarded with a beautiful morning and a spectacular sunrise. As I found myself grousing about the fact that I haven't done this earlier, I said you can only do something about today...and here you are. Thus a new blog title was born.

OWS Pewaukee

So my goal for August is to pass my yearly totals from last year for bike and swim, with my year to date total for this year.  Not a huge accomplishment, because I had a pretty low volume year last year, but still something to be proud of I guess.

Depending on weather, either a rest day or short swim at Pewaukee.

UPDATE Took the family over to Pewaukee for the OWS. Strong winds made for some rough swimming. Can't say I enjoyed it that much, but practice in chop is always a skill that can come in handy.

Hwy E to K to Emerald to K and back to E

So I signed up for Camp Whitcomb-Mason yesterday and after riding part of the course today, I have only one thing to say: What the hell was I thinking? The trip to and from course was filled with some hilly goodness too.  Bad news: I am expecting to have my ass handed to me next weekend. Good news: I think I found the answer as to how to improve my bike performance next season.  Gorgeous afternoon for a ride.

Well as Deanna says, pick up the pieces and train. No beautiful sunny day today, but overcast and drizzly was actual perfect for today. After swim, headed out for run right from park, did it to get some new scenery (not counting the race I just did here on Sunday ;)) Started out running through the park, first to BunnyT's favorite fishing pier (see his race report), then through the camp grounds, then across the street to a nature trail that I got lost on and almost fell in a river. It was awesome! After that excitement headed out to the road.

Would have been a glorious morning for something this morning. :(  Oh well there is always this afternoon. Major benefit to being self-employed: boss doesn't care if I duck out early for a bike ride.  Have a great weekend!

One of my major disappointments this summer is my lack of ability to get up early morning to train (or not that early) Sleep is not that good and that is contributing, but still, I am missing on some great opportunities. Since I missed one this morning, I may have missed any chance of a work out today.  ( with something going on tonight)

UPDATE: was able to sneak in this run. Book end to yesterday's run, only faster.

UPDATE: I had actually envisioned something about twice as long. This is what I could squeeze in before I had to pick up my daughter from Piano lessons. Still a beautiful night for a run.
