Woke up feeling terrible with sore throat.  Took my temp and it was normal. Was on the fence about running at all today.  After a few hours, felt somewhat better and decided to give it a go.  Plan called for 13.  decided to do 10 and if I was feeling really bad I would turn around early.  Also told myself not to worry about pace at all.  Got out (temp was in mid 50s and I was wearing shorts) and was feeling pretty decent.  At mile 5 I decided to keep going.  When I got to 5.5 decided I still felt good, but that I should not push it so I could save something for tomorrow.  Return trip was a little slower, but I was running into headwind.  Overall felt feeling pretty good.  In fact, endorphines helped me feel better for a while post run.

Another weekend of beefy run miles (if I do it all, over 40 miles over next 3 days) Good news is that seems mother nature is cooperating in a big (read: warm) way.  That should brighten things a bit. Speaking of bit, I have a bit of a sore throat. I will do my best to eat well and stay rested to try and keep any real sickness at bay (everyone in my family has been sick at least 3 times this fall already.)

UPDATE just not feeling well, so I cut plan (10 miles) way back and still felt long.

Some random observations:

training for a marathon at this time of year is much harder than during August and September.

I have now run more miles than all of last year (which was a PR for miles) with 5 weeks to go.

I have pretty much stopped being a triathlete, with no biking or swimming since July. 

I am getting out of wack because, besides not doing any S/B, I am not doing enough stretching and almost no yoga or strength. 

No running today, but it wouldn't kill me to do something else that could be beneficial.

Ok this stunk.  Decided to run beginning of the Glacier trail in Waukesha after I dropped my kids off at church and head out past Wales.  Spotty mile markers made pacing a little more difficult than normal.  Out was generally uphill, but the downhill did not really help on the return trip.  I was pretty much done at turn around, but my car was in Waukesha, so what was I going to do.  I guess after 6 days of running it is time for a rest.
